Auto-start-stop in my opinion is the absolute worst part of the Tourx. Even more egregious is that GM doesn't let you turn it off, but the Opel and Vauxhall versions of our cars can. In fact, had I of known that it couldn't be disabled, I probably would not have bought my 2018 Tourx.
After reading on these forums, I decided to go with the SmartStopStart .com module that fits inline with the hood sensor. I didn't want anything plugged into the OBD2 port, especially after reading about how the 2.0L engine is no longer officially supported with that method. I also didn't want to do a Trifecta tune as I have no interest in modding the car's performance or voiding the warranty.
The module took about 5 minutes to install. It completely changes the driving experience of the car. There's no longer the anticipation of the engine shutting off, having to shift manually to stop it, or having it kill when you are trying to park. Totally worth every penny and I wish I would have bought it sooner.
As far as the remote start functions, I have not noticed any difference despite the instructions provided. I still lock the car and immediately hold the start button on the fob like I always have.
If you are on the fence about a way to defeat auto-start-stop, this is the one. I can't say enough good things about it.
