Boxes From Germany: A GS Modification Thread

Maybe when my son is out of his booster I will pull the trigger on these. Right now it would just be a waste when that blocks half your view.

Doubt you trade much on safety, it isn't like these were some standard headrest from a developing nation, I would trust the EU standards.

I agree with you there. In many ways, the EU standards are more stringent and up-to-date. More of a CYA statement than anything. We live in the Land of Sue afterall 🤷‍♂️. And good point, maybe just buy one for the side without the booster now, and the second later. Keep the invoice totals under the wife's radar 😉

I am going to be so broke... 🤣
Wanna start a club? lol

Not sure if Opel has the same colour as our shale interior though. So, I might not be that broke yet. (Still broke, just not that broke) 🤣

Opel has the same color as our shale. I have leather and installed the Opel headrests last year. Opel Part Numbers for your Sport Tourer should be some side byside photos in that thread as well. Part number 39089005 .

I really want the headrests... but can’t find Blitzparts or Adrian’s contact info. Does anyone know if he’s still shipping to the US? Do you recommend any other companies/individuals that ship Opel parts to the US? (Just picked up a 2018 GS last week. New to this forum.)

Welcome to the forum @WinnerGS! Blitzparts has been inactive for some time now but I think someone recently got a response. You can try messaging on the eBay store: blitzparts. I worked with Adrian through this email: info@blitzparts.de.

If that doesn't work, try searching for the part by the part number on eBay.de or elsewhere.

@WinnerGS, I got in touch with someone from Blitzparts a few months ago via eBay. It was not Adrian, but they did respond and say that they'd be resuming shipping to the USA in April. Obviously shipping and the global pandemic have not really improved enough to know if they'll actually resume, but I did send another message today. I'll keep people informed if I hear back.

The Holden Commodore also uses the Euro style rear headrests. If the European source falls through it may be possible to get them through someone down this way.

I ordered 2016 Chevy Malibu GS headrests I found on ebay. Got them for 60$ shipped for the pair. Don't mind the 2 indentations on the photo. I just pulled them from the box and installed them. Once they heated up from the sun the indentations went away. They are like brand new and look just like the opel ones. I can grab a better photo at some point. This was from awhile ago.

Good find! I know I paid a bit more than that for the Opel ones in beige

(Note to self, don't look at this thread if I do not want to be broke.)
Now we need to find out if the Malibu's beige one matches the color of ours.

I have a set of Opel rear headrests for sale in the member classifieds.

Are they more comfortable?

I haven't sat in the back to try them. They look better and less obtrusive when looking in the rear view out the back window. Let's you see out the full back window.

I'm giving a try to the ones that came off of Lacrosse. Hopefully they will fit🤞. Looks like color will match too.
