can someone describe to me the difference the fix made?
I'm not expecting to notice a difference -- and haven't noticed any difference in the 50 miles of city driving since the recall service. Not in brake pedal feel or stopping distance.

In fact, just last night I had to slam on the brakes in this screenshot from my dashcam. Screen Shot 2022-09-19 at 10.19.23.png After a Costco semi blasts thru the yellow light with an SUV behind it running the red -- a silver sedan runs the red in the opposite direction right across my path. No problem with stopping distance!

Anyway, I never experienced the "potential partial or full loss of vacuum brake assist" in my 20K+miles before the recall came out. This NHTSA pdf has some explanation.

NOTE: Q10 in the pdf says that Courtesy Transportation is available for covered vehicles still under warranty.

It's good the fix is available so quickly. I don't think anyone will notice any difference in the brakes because this appears to be only under a very specific set of conditions under emergency braking.

I also had this recall done. Although I didn't notice any difference in braking performance, I am noticing a new sound that occurs sometimes when start/stop is active. There's a short whirrr sound that happens. It's inconsistent and I'm having trouble finding a pattern, but definitely new since this software flash. Seems most likely to occur when the auxillary cooling fan turns off after running  during start/stop being active. It sounds like its coming from a similar area as the coolant gurgle lots of people notice (the sound of coolant being pumped during that auxiliary cooling cycle), but from a slightly different location - sounds near the firewall, though. My only guess right now is it's the sound of the vacuum booster charging, but I'm planning to ask the dealer about it next time I'm in.

I'm familiar with the aux cooling fan and coolant gurgle that goes along with it - this whirrr sound is different, and new since the brake booster recall. Louder, brief, and right near the firewall.

it's hard to describe through comparison, but for those who are familiar with the aux cooling noises I'd be interested to hear whether anyone else is noticing a new sound.

Had mine done at oil change a couple of weeks ago. No difference in brake feel or stopping.
