Now thats pretty bitchin'! If I had any reason to keep it stock looking under there, that would be one damn nice way to do it. :secret:

Say, When do we get to see pics of it all in there? :axeonhead

I think I figured it out.....The tube leading to the airbox intake is the heat riser allegedly to help in cold weather, and the metal flap in the box assembly is something to do with it too, in cold weather. How I found out? I removed the heat riser tube and the metal flap part, started her up, and after a few mins pootling around the neighbourhood,(-20 celcius) she didnt sound happy. In neutral, it would rev to about 1800 and putting it in reverse, the engine revved even higher, spinning the wheels in the snow... Odd. Putting the heat riser tube and the metal flap thing stopped all that odd behavior.

Perhaps someone would care to explain what was happening here.....? 🙂

The metal flap is controled by a bi-metalic spring which expands when its cold and contracts when it gets hot that way when the engine is hot the spring contracts and pulls the flap down to let the cold air from the outside in and when its cold the flap closes off the air flow a little this way the engine draws in the warm air by the exhaust manifold, this way when the car is started cold the fuel atomizes better and uses a little less fuel and it helps get the engine and O2 sensor heated up quicker. and yes it also helps the car run better in cold weather.

I LIVE IN SOUTH DAKOTA, AND HAVE A CONCERN ABOUT ANY COLD WEATHER PROBLEMS I MIGHT ENCOUNTER. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 94 LOADMASTER WAGON AND REMOVED THE STOCK MUFFLERS AND RESONATORS, AND REPLACED THEM WITH TWO FLOWMASTERS. SO FAR THAT IS ALL I HAVE DONE, BUT WOULD REALLY LIKE TO DO THE COLD AIR DEAL.:headbang:

Just Did The "home Depot" Cold Air Conversion And Boy Am I A Happy Camper!!:d

Can someone bust out some creative adjectives and describe the sound difference with deleting home plate and first base? I love the sound of a 350 with some sort of loud aftermarket exhaust but on my Roadmaster I want to keep its close to silent factory exhaust. Deleting home plate and first base might be just what I want to let you know there is something mean under the hood but is still a quiet cruiser. I may just have to give it a try.

From inside the car I think it sounds like a good old 4 barrel when it kicks in. Or have you ever flipped the lid on a late 60's early 70's air cleaner. It sounds really great when you go like 3/4 throttle in 2nd gear. Nice deep whooooo sound

this method delete the electric connector on the left side of the intake and the opti-vent harness!

I used the first elbow from the throttle body then the MAF and filter.

How do you incorporate these two features with a CAI similar to the RAISS and the hope depot special?
