I have a 2012 Buick LaCrosse Touring. Recently my driver side door got hit and was repaired by a local dealership. They say that the door was replaced, but all my original mechanics were kept. But now, the driver side door does not open the same way. Here is a little background...
Before the repairs, all I had to do to unlock any door is to approach it with the FOB in my pocket, and with one pull of the door handle, the door would unlock and open in one action. Now, it takes 2 actions to open the driver door. The first pull will only unlock the door. It requires a release and another pull to open it. The dealer tells me that is how its meant to work. And the owner's manual says the same thing. So why do all my other doors (including my original driver door) just require one pull?
I have called around many dealerships to see if anyone knows exactly how the door operation is meant to work, but I always get different answers.
Is there anybody out there who really does know how they are supposed to work?
And is it possible that my original locks were "modified or customized" to behave this way by someone other than a dealership? But that would not explain why the repaired door would not work the same way now. I'm confused.
I appreciate any feedback regarding this topic.
Update: I just re-read the owner's manual and it is meant to open with just one pull. So, it looks like the dealership swapped out something from my door and are trying to cover it up.
