Gear shift shortener

So we're pretty sure GM didn't change anything with the F40 trans between 2012 and 2013, right? Part 170040 should be the one to go with for a 2013?

I wouldn't assume anything to be honest .. just open the hood, grab a flashlight and take a quick look .. you'll see right away which one you have .. I almost ordered the newer version but saw the difference and ordered the correct one (which I hope arrives soon) .. i don't trust GM and their trickery so give a look lol good luck!

That's probably a good idea. What was the build date on your car?

Anyone hear anything back about a group buy? $360 shipped is pretty steep.

received my gear shift shortener .. drilled a hole in the stock shifter .. literally CANNOT get that cap off for the life of me lol broke two pliers so far trying to pull it out .. UNfreaking believable .. hope this damn thing comes off tomorrow .. not sure of any easier way to pull this off

If you own the car I would be putting some penetrating wd-40 or some jazz on there, and adding torch heat to the mechanism itself hoping to release its deathgrip on the cap. Also inverting a can of compressed air to spray the center cap with ice after you heat up the mechanism could help.

The reason I say 'if you own the car' is because i'm not a mechanic at all, and the metal they use may by become brittle under heat for all we know. There's also a fear some linkage that it's connected to because damaged due to heat.

Do you have autozone / napa around or any place that rents tools? Maybe a bearing puller is your ticket.

You could also try denting the center cap to deform it a little and pull the cap wall away from the shifter assembly wall.

I got an email fro Bad News Racing this morning. They will have the M-Tech short shifter for the Regal GS in about two weeks.

I emailed both B&M and TWM about short shiftersa while back. Informed them i could organize a group buy of 20+. Havent heard back. I emailed both sales and customer service. Pathetic

But ill be looking at swapping over to the 14 AWD.. After i do that, ill work on contacting them over the phone until they give me some sort of an answer.

Tim

2014 AWD is not available in manual transmission.

ok-so i put in 3 washers under the battery box screws and it is perfect! oh man this shifter is short and precise and fast! a must have for all you wanting a better shifter! well worth it IMHO, but be warned that you need the washers. anyone need advice on install or anything PM me..getting the damn battery out was the hardest part

Hey did you have to call them to order the rite shifter or is it easy enough to go through there web and order and is the part number 170050

Short shifter for Regal GS just added to BNR website.

Out of stock :*(

Not show much "out of stock" as not yet in stock. As i noted in a previous post, BNR will have them in about two weeks. Put yourself on the waiting list. At $225 and free shipping, and dealing with a USA company, it's worth the extra wait.

Thanks all for the posts!
The long shifts is something I've wanted gone for a while now. So, I've ordered one too.
Looks fairly easy to install. Removing the battery bay will be the hardest part.
I'll try to take photos before/during/after too.
Until then I'll be waiting on it to arrive....

BNR has the gear shift shortener for the F40 transmission in stock. I just ordered mine.

Yeah, just got the notification from BNR a couple hours ago and ordered mine as well. Really looking forward to this shifter.:headbang:

make sure you guys ordering from BNR are checking to make sure you're buying the right one .. the one pictured on their website for the "GS" is not what my 13' GS has .. my car has the older one .. just give a glance under your engine before making a possible headache for yourself lol
