GM performance parts Regal Stage Kit 2012-2013

Looks good brother....I love my stage kit...love pulling the car out for a drive now...such a nicer power band and driving experience...i second that....looks good on the black

I wasn't referring to replacing with a K&N, but cleaning the filter with a dry flow cleaner made by K&N, I used this on my AEM Dry Flow filter on my Sunfire.

Dry filters cannot be cleaned without damaging them. It opens up the paper and then allows small dirt/dust particles to pass through

I hate you because you have the OPC wheels... ****ing WHY did they polish them for the GS

I had a K&N filter so I wasn't expecting much of a performance boost but it does feel better spooling up. It feels like I would chirp second if my tires weren't so quite while spinning. Now I need a nice downpipe and power electric exhaust bypass. DONE!

Hello My first post here. Just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for being so specific. I went to my local GM dealer to get this stage kit ordered and they shot me down saying it wasn't a gm available part.
I came back with the part number and the info from here. not only can they order it they are happy to just do the flash and let me order it cheaper from crate. My dealership is Miles Chevrolet in Decatur IL.
will be three weeks and I'll have my install done. I will post some before and after pics.

Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a few questions about tunes. If there is a separate introduction thread, I missed it and apologize in advance. I am active on several other forums with the same screen name in case you recognize me (Enclave Forum/SHO-MKS Twin Turbo Forum/Cadillac Owners Forum/Impala Forums [where I am an Administrator]).

I am looking to find a 2012 Regal T Premium 1 or 2 for my son, who gets his license in 2 months. The prices seem very good in my area (Michigan), The GS is out of budget. The other contenders are a 2010 SHO which one of my business Partners owns or a 2013/2014 Impala LTZ. I know, quite a spectrum - but they all fall in the same approximate price point and for various reasons, he likes each. The Regal clearly has the finest interior and best styling. I also have an Enclave and feel it's as nice as any Cadillac I have owned. The Impala is the least expensive which gets him a very new comfortable (but not exciting) car with less than 10k miles and fairly quick stock (300 HP), and the SHO is the quickest and AWD. I also know a lot about tuning the SHO, as my AWD Lincoln MKS has the same 3.5 Twin Turbo engine and is aggressively tuned by Livernois Motorsports.

We are also leaning heavily towards the two GM products, as I love my GM dealer service department and they treat me great. My Lincoln/Ford dealer leaves something to be desired. The Lincoln if my first non-GM vehicle (other than a near mid life crisis 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo I had a few years ago). I am guessing that I am over the average age curve here at 46, and that my son is a lot younger. The Regal T seems like a 25-40 type vehicle to me. LOL.

I found this forum/thread when looking for what was out there in aftermarket tuning for the Regal T. Seems like Trifecta and the GM Stage 1 are really the most popular options. Is that correct? Also, I have honed in on a 2012 due to price and definitely want Intellilink. I have not been able to find major differences between 2012 and 2013. Are there any significant ones for 2013? I know the 2014 has the updated ATS 2.0, but that's not in the budget.

I am looking forward to becoming a member of the community - seems like a helpful crowd with out some of the typical forum BS. 🙂

Double post - sorry. Getting used to the forum.

Hey TSS,

I'm from Metro Detroit, and just picked up a '13 Regal Turbo premium 1. Paid $16900 with 26K miles. Felt like I got the deal of the century. I did drive a few hours outside of the metro area as everything seemed to be $18000 and up with low miles. I was looking at 12s as well but couldn't find a turbo with Intellilink. Hope you find what you're looking for!

Not yet. I'm still weighing my options between keeping the warranty intact with the GM Stage Kit or going the cheaper route with the Trifecta tune.

I find it unbelievable that the warranty stays intact with the stage 1. I have had numerous tunes on many different vehicles. Some custom, and some out of the box. I voided my warranty on the Lincoln long ago. That alone will make me go with the stage 1. if I am reading the thread correctly, it's between six and seven hundred dollars and includes a cold air intake. What I haven't gleaned yet is whether or not I am in control of the tune. Meaning, does it get loaded at the dealer or do I get a handheld unit myself to load and unload depending on octane and things like that. There are a lot of pages in this thread go through. Lol

EDIT: I figured it out. I need to go to the dealer for the calibration. I have 93 octane readily available a, but I wonder what people do who don't have the correct octane available all the time. That's what's nice about having a handheld....among other things.

The tune is designed for 91 octane.
I'll be installing my Stage 1 kit this weekend.

If memory servers me right you should net about 50hp and 30-40 more torque on a stock regal with the GMS1 kit, that'll bump you up into stock GS territory.

Welcome TSS and fellow Michigander! 🙂 This is a great forum and you will find a lot of great info on the our gen Regal. Good luck finding a car for your son!

Thanks for the welcomes and for the information guys.

I am hoping the stage 1 does in fact bring the turbo into GS territory performance wise (though the GS is simply a hot looking ride - again - not in the budget). Having had tuned several vehicles, I have found the gains that can be made with increasing boost, etc are amazing - while still maintaining reliability and durability. Much more to gain with a tune in a turbo than a NA vehicle.

We plan to have the purchase completed at the beginning of July. I am having an extension put on our driveway this month to accomodate the extra car, and he receives his full license at the end of August. So that will give us about 6 weeks to detail it to our standards, have him get used to driving it with his mom and I, and maybe do a few minor mods.

Being a new driver, I need to think about whether we do Stage 1 when we get the car, or wait a little bit. I know most parents say it, but he really is a good responsible kid. And he knows cars and has driven, and driven in, some powerful rides already - and he does have a true respect for how quickly things can get out of control. I have trained him a little in my car under very controlled conditions so he can experience feeling complete control, and then loss of control, in the blink of an eye. I am comfortable with him having a car that hits 60 in the low to mid sixes. But again.....the Stage 1 might wait a few months or at least wait until he is through his first winter. That is another reason I kind of wish we had the ability to load and unload the Stage 1 tune ourselves. I have, in the past, "detuned" my car a little (not entirely) in the winter.

Thanks again for all the welcomes and helpful comments.

Todd

P.S. In most of my other car forums, newbies usually share photos of other rides in their stable. Having still been unable to find the correct intro thread here, here they are:

Wife's DW Enclave. Superb vehicle for what it is - and built 4 miles from my office - here in Lansing MI.

^^^^ Sorry that guy's foreign car is blocking the photo of mine.

Here is one without an obstructed view. I enjoy driving this a lot and plan to continue to do so for several more years, but it is my first, and likely my last, FORD product. Decent product, but dealer service leaves a lot to be desired, and when I drive a GM product, everything is just more intuitive to me.
