For all those that have had the dealership swap out the GS track ready brake pads for the less aggressive low dust versions due to squealing and dust. Did the dealership swap out both front and rears or just the fronts? I had to show my dealership the TSB (as they could not find it), but they only swapped the front pads. The rear pads still have a fair amount of dust and they squeal as well. Should the dealership have swapped the rear pads as well?

Mine only swapped the front. My rears expel quite a bit more dust than the fronts now, but at least they don't squeal.

My dealer told me it was not a warranty issue and I would have to pay to have the updated pad set installed...

Now my brakes are making noise all the time, very annoying when driving through parking lots. We'll see what they say when it goes in this time.

I would be happy to look into this for you. Could you send a private message with your name, address, phone number, VIN, vehicle mileage, and name of involved dealership? I can call the dealer and research further for you. Thank you!

Well, that is a lie. I went in, said I saw it online, and would like them changed. Did it under warranty, gave me the warning, "Now, if you ever track this car, you'll have to put them back on (lol)..." and sent me on my way.

That's pretty upsetting because I go to one of the largest GM dealers in Michigan, Al Serra. I also had to give them the TSB number that was on the forum.

At the time I only had 16k miles I now have just over 20k and the brakes are terrible, rubbing/squealing at all times then when applied make a loud screeching. This car is not abused at all, there is no way it should be like this.

I had mine done at ~15k miles. I would either complain to Buick Customer Service or go in and demand to have them changed. If there's a TSB, shouldn't it be done under warranty?

I guess I lucked out with my dealer, they try all avenues before I would have to pay for something (haven't had to pay for anything but an oil change).

I have a 2012 GS with 20" chrome wheels, it has 6000 miles on it. Last fall the wheels were corroding on the front. Took it to dealer without hesitation he ordered four new ones and had them installed. I feel the corrosion was from the brake dust on front, the back weren't near as bad. The chrome on these wheels leaves a lot to be desired. I will follow up with replacing front pads.

Yes, brake dust is corrosive as hell. I replaced my OEM pads at around 22k miles but before that kept the rims as clean as I could. Plus I run winter rims/tires so that helped. Replaced the fronts with Akebono ceramics and they are much better. The swap took maybe 30 minutes, the only snag is the pad clip is a bitch to get off...With the Brembos you could put concrete pads in there and still have great stopping power, so don't sweat going with a bit harder material than OEM. You'll be glad you did when you don't have a dust coating 5 miles after washing the car.

The dealership ordered new OEM 20" rims for you??

Some folks are livin' the good life... near a dealer that knows how to treat customers right.

I'm curious about this part. I have the 19s, which I know are painted wheels. I thought the 20s are just polished aluminum. Are they actually chrome plated or just polished???

They are polished Aluminum. Anyone who says they are chrome is just misinformed.

I have done tons of research on the 20" because I have the 19"
