They are interchangeable throughout GM's, but a Second
hand will need reprogrammed to work with your Car, VIA:
VIN Number.
The Dealership should be able to do this for you, but not
always willing to do it, they want to sell you a New HMI Unit
at the cost of $1200.
Here is a link that shows this HMI (Part# 23228496) does fit your
2015 LaCrosse.
You may have to enter your Vehicle by clicking on the
Check Fit Button.
That same Part will work in my 2015 Buick Regal!
I am Upgrading my from the NG 2.0 HMI to a NG 2.5 HMI and the
Radio Module for the
Apple Car Play,
Android Auto & HD Radio Features.
I own a 2015 Buick Regal and these options weren't offered until 2016.
I just shipped my Sourced Parts to
White Automotive & Media Services yesterday.
They offered a List of Part Numbers for me to look for on Ebay and Amazon.
The Programming will allow these features to work with my car.
You could actually purchase New Parts (HMI & Radio Module) from
White Automotive or Source your own from Ebay/Amazon.
WAMS could then program them for you with the same Upgrade I'm getting (Car
Play &
Android Auto).
The HMI would be the NG 2.5 HMI, faster than the NG 2.0 HMI.
With all the Upgrades it's just under $1000 (you could buy less making it cheaper).
This includes the New 2020 Map Upgrade and and Full HMI Unlock.
Getting all these upgrades would be cheaper than getting just the HMI Replaced at the Dealership!
To save money you could get the
Car Play &
Android Auto Upgrade
without purchasing an HMI with the Navigation, but that's up to you.
You could then use your iPhone or Android Phone as your Navigation,
most people say that Google GPS is better than Factory Navigation.
Myself, I'm stubborn and wanted my Factory Navigation!
