Hey
Does anyone know how much horsepower/torque and 1993-1990 roadmaster has. What kind of gas mileage do they get on average.

Our 1994 With the LT1 350 Corvette motor has 250HP and i can't remeber the torque. I thinks it around 350. We can get up to 30MPG on highway. I want to know because i was thinking about buying a roadmaster for myself, and if its worth going for the LT1 Version

The 1991 to 1993 Roadie's with the 5.7l TBI engine's have an anemic 180HP with a descent 300 lbs-ft of torque. The EPA rating for highway is about 25-26MPG. The 1994 to 1996 LTI Roadie's have 260HP and 330 lbs-ft of torque...their EPA is slightly highly than the TBI's, at 26-27MPG highway.

If you plan on modding the car like exhaust or intake, the TBI will roar... the intake and exhaust on 90-93 cars really reduce the power... You can probibly (guesstimate) give it a gain of something like 40 hp or more? It really depends on the condition and the price difference.

LT1 is my personal favorite also. i must say after driving a couple of them, you would never be able to tell that the horsepower between the two is that far apart.

all pre 94 cars use the 700-r4 aka the 4l60. the 4L60-e was introduced in 94. Basically the same trans but not hydraullically controlled like the 4l60..

LT1 cars are rated at 260hp and 330ftlbs of torque, however they are also rated at 250hp and less torque (forgot how much lower) if they are equipped with the manual fan..

Both cars should be able to get equal fuel economy.. I've gotten 28mpg back when my car was stock..

The LT1 has to be my personal favorite, too. Its just so much better on the top end compared to my car. TBI is the cheaper route to go as far as prices for engine parts, and especially tune ups.😀 I think a custom intake and some dual exhaust would do a TBI engine a world of good.

Our old 91 caprice w/ the 170hp/255lb ft TBI 305 got 30 mpg highway stock in its better days, but it is pretty slow because of the low torque rating. And our 96 RMS got 28 mpg highway stock last summer. Havent taken mine on a highway trip yet.

My 92 TBI does not get as good mpg in really cold weather, but when its really nice out, I average about 20-21, upper 20's on highway trips with 2.56 gears. I expect a little better when I get a better exhaust system.

to really let the 90-93 engines purr, you should look into Edelbrock's Multi-Port Conversion... That's probibly what I will do, And I saw (and taped) how it was installed on Spike TV's Powerblock... perfect timing for a TBI guy like myself.

Of course the conversion kit will run you just over $1000 but the fuel/air mix gets injected directly into the cylinder which gives better EPA and alot more horsepower... I also recommend some good cylinder heads, possibly a 4 valve system instead of the stock two 🙂 (Yes, Buffman I have been reading up 😎)

Oh yeah, and get rid of the mech fan, there is 10 ponies right there.

There are no 4 valve heads for a SBC. well there are, but they're not a bolt on thing, and at $5000 they're not cheap

well just realize there have been very few people who actually have those heads 🙂
