As fellow GS owners know, you can faintly hear the turbo spooling up with the windows up. I purchased the drop in filter hoping it would increase the noise of the turbo spooling up. I was extremely happy with the result. Man does the turbo sound good now. Such a simple solution. For anyone interested, it is part #33-2442. Do it.😀

just gotta see how much of a performance/fuel improvement it makes..

I have noticed NO fuel mileage issues, I am getting around 27.5mpg on the highway.
Loss of performance is questionable. It seems to breath better from around 2k RPM up to maybe 4-4.5k, although the upper RPM range seems to suffer from fuel starvation. This engine seems to suffer at the High RPM range already, and the K&N makes it a little worse.

I have timed it from 2k to 5k, and 2k to 6k and on the 6k runs, I notice on average a 0.5 second slower response with the K&N versus stock. Since I notice I seem to shift earlier due to the drop off anyway, I decided to stick with the K&N after going back and forth for a few days. I agree, the sound of the Turbo spooling up and releasing, is so much more enjoyed versus the muted stock version.

From my driving experience this afternoon, you can definately notice a slight increase in throttle response when you accelerate. I only got up to 60mph. I am extremely pleased with the results from just a drop in filter. The noise of the turbo spooling up and releasing sounds awesome.

I wonder how this would do on a CXL Turbo with a tune?

No go for the video. I just took five short videos and the camera did not pick up what you actually hear in the vehicle. I was very surprised that it did not pick up the spooling noise, because in person you can clearly hear the turbo spool up and release no problem.

Thanks for trying and for the Autoanything link. For $47 shipped it is worth a try so I ordered mine last night, I hope it is there when I get back home this weekend.

You are welcome. Have a safe trip home and be sure to post up your feedback about the filter.
Okay, just took the plunge and bought one off of Amazon. What scares me is when you go to K&N's site, they say they don't have a filter for the Regals yet.
I just checked and they do. No need to be scared:
