Why in the world would they not integrate intellilink with the navigation option!!!!!!!!! 😕 Does anyone know if there will be a firmware upgrade later on to update the navigation so it also has intellilink.

Anybody have the navigation that can give feedback about how good it is. It states on the gm website that the navigation comes with a hard disk drive. Anyone know if it is a like a laptop drive or a solid state hard drive or what, and is it user replaceable when it fails.

Can anybody provide feedback how well the intellilink works. Is it just voice commands, stitcher and pandora?

I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software limit, if it is software, I am sure there will be an update. The Buick Verano Turbo will have Intellilink with the Nav option, so apparently its feasible...whether or not it can be added to our models after-the-fact, I don't know 🙁

The navigation is stored on a flash card thing that you insert into the center console. Updates and things would basically come from that. The actual software system itself is firmware or a harddrive somewhere in the vehicle, so it would not be as easily accessible.

If I had to do it again, I'd get Intellilink instead of the Navigation option, but I am hoping a later update allows it.

( but to be completely honest, I'm really eying the Cadillac ATS :/ )

With On-Star you already have basic navigation. You can hit the button on the mirror and asks for directions or you can use the On-Star App on your smart phone and send the destination to the car. The car will display turn by turn instructions to get you where you need. We have used the feature a bunch and it works great.

What is the difference between the two setups??

This is not something that can be upgraded for the 2012 model. What model year are you discussing? Thank you.

I bought the 2012 Verano with navigation. Again I made a bad assumption that it also had intellilink, but after using the nav without intellilink, I think it is faster to just hit the buttons. I have heard from other owners that they spend more time arguing with car that have and use intellilink.

What??

With the On-Star Nav you push the on-Star button and are connected with a live human operator. You tell them where you want to go and the send the data to the car.

Also our Intellink has worked flawlessly.

The car i bought displays a Navigation screen on the infotainment system. It is an extra option and it deletes the intellilink. All the cars have Onstar and Onstar navigation. If you do not subscribe to Onstar, you will not have navigation, but I still will with the Navigation option and with no Onstar activated. Two completely different things. Glad to hear your intellilink works great.

Good to know!

I just bought a 13 Verano and the added items for 13 and the very slight price increase and low 12 hold over allowance, it was no brainer to opt for the 13.

I know that those of you that did not have that option and got the NAV, do not have Intellilink. But the 13 with NAV does have the Intellilink and that was one of the upgrades that made my decision for me.

Being that the 13 with NAV has Intellilink, those that really do want Intellilink with NAV in a 12, there may be something of an aftermarket upgrade available; like the guys with the backup camera and NAV install upgrades.

Dan_Lockwood,

I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your vehicle and are happy with your decision to go with the 2013. Based on the information in my resources, you are not able to upgrade the 2012 version so that you can have Intellilink and Navigation. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions. Thank you.

This would have been wonderful information to know before I signed papers to buy my 2012 Verano with the Navigation option about 3 weeks ago. I guess that's what I get for asking the right questions to the wrong people. For the record my 2011 Ford F150 has a better technology package (Sync) then the Verano. We fell in love with the Verano at the Seattle auto show...I specifically asked when we got to test drive one if I could stream audio from my Phone via Bluetooth and was assured I could...and I was also assured I could by two different dealerships when we were shopping for the car. Never once was it mentioned that there was a technology difference between the 2012 vs 2013, nor does it state anything remotely close to this topic on Buick's website. So just to be clear, the Navigation upgrade costs more but you lose the other features? Glad they got it right for 2013. Maybe the right thing to do is offer your existing customers an upgrade option rather than marketing the better technology to new customers...just a thought.

I guess next time you might say... "here's my phone, I'll most likely buy this car if you can show me how it streams bluetooth".

For the record, my '12 LaCrosse also doesn't stream BT (mine is Nav and pre-intellilink) but for some reason I couldn't care less 🙂

Try to enjoy your new car, it's really not that big a deal, good luck!

Like I said, I asked the right questions to the wrong people. It's not just the audio streaming you lose, it's also the voice recognition for the stereo controls as well...yet the Peyton Manning commercial shows him using the navigation and changing radio stations using his voice...to some it may not be a big deal, but others who were looking forward to certain features only to find out they are not available, well it might just be a big deal to them. In hindsight, I guess I should have had them connect my phone, but just did not think to being I had 3 different sources all telling me I could.
