So, according to the oil life monitor in the V it won't be due for an oil change until a bit over 9K miles. It's at 5400 right now. Mind you this is a 2012MY. I am not comfortable with leaving the oil in the car that long but who would know better than GM.........right?? 🙂

Since I am changing it myself and would like to do it before the weather turns to crap here.........change it or let it be?

If I'm not mistaken, the manual stipulates that the oil must be changed at least once a year regardless of what the monitor states.

Huh, guess I'll change oil this weekend.

FWIW, the oil life monitor on my high-mileage (133,000km-89,725mi) 2012 Verano has always shown incorrectly. If I went by it I would only be changing it about every 40,000km-25,000mi. The dealer is aware and he said he has seen at least two more doing the same thing, he is looking into it (and has been for at least six months).

PS: Yes I drive a lot.

I change my oil at 5 % oil life remaining...that works out to be at 19,000 km intervals. The car burns absolutely no oil!

So far so good.

Just had this discussion with my dealer on my Regal Turbo. I have about 7K miles since the last oil change and monitor shows 64% remaining. No way I am going 16K-18K miles between changes. Dealer agrees that the software may have a issue with the algorithm....

With mostly highway driving you easily get 11K-12K miles between oil changes.

I would monitor the percentage and change before 12K miles.
