Just when I think this car is perfect after that last dreaded problem, today I get a P2176 fault code. I drove to Auto Zone to pick up some better scratch remover. The car was fine. I exit the store, get into the car and fire it up and it immediately sounds horrible. The DIC immediately displays engine power reduced and it sounds like a car with a serious cam on it. I immediately shut it down and let it sit for a few minutes. I then fired it up and it was fine. I'm guessing something caused the throttle positioning sensor to malfunction? I'm calling the dealership on Monday. Hopefully they'll finally get me out of this car. I want to like it, but I can't have a car that acts up every few thousand miles especially with the price I paid for it.

Wow - that sucks with all the last one put you through to get it back.

Dealer here has only done 3 dumb/damaging things to my car in the 5 weeks I have had it. I chose the Regal Turbo over the VW CC because lack of trust in the VW dealers run deep for most Water Cooled Dubbers like myself. They did little damage to my 01 Beetle because they only had it once when the coil packs began failing and they warranteed them and I specified their technician that was one of our club members work on it. I didn't have such luck with my 85 Golf when it was new before I learned better.

What did they do to your Regal?

E85 and tune?

Are you suggesting I get the E85 tune and switch? Funny thing is, I've been debating on finally installing my normal tune since its been running good, but after yesterday, something's telling me to hold off......again. Of Indid go with an E85 tune, is this an upgrade from the standard tune, or would I have to pay the full cost?

Hello!

I'm sorry to hear this. 🙁 Please keep us posted on what the dealership says. If you need further assistance, I am happy to help!

What did they do to your Regal?

It's all cosmetic, but the car was in MINT condition when I bought it ... since it was the GM owned 6000 mile Courtesy Vehicle for the dealership. The story started getting too long, I will start another thread if I am not satisfied with the repair they plan to do.

Yours is mechanical, hope they get it right ... can't be giving problems when you trade it in!

I was just wondering if you had a tune and/or E85 in your GS when this happened. The only people I hear have codes so far are people using E85.

That sucks, but my cars finish was less than stellar when I got it back from the dealer. There were numerous scratches and scuffs especially on the rear bumper up where he trunk lid sits. They all buffed out when I detailed it this past weekend. Good luck with yours too.

Oh, okay. No, this car has been pretty much the opposite of what I originally bought it for. It has been a daily driver. That's why I'm upset. No mods, no serious aggressive driving, and it acts up. That's why in have never installed the tune on it.

Just an update. I haven't called the dealer yet. I'm not going to have time to get to the deer until after the 19th anyway. The cars been running fine since this happened. I'm just concerned that it'll do it again.

I'll keep the VooDoo God's happy for ya so this quirk blows over.

I brought mine in today, they got all but one deeper 1 inch long scracth totally out. The painter clayed and buffed it out the hood, looks great now, I won't mess with it. I just hope that if I decide to take it in again for my "free" oil change they don't beat the same spot with the oil/fluid delivery hose, I don't think it can be fixed again without new clear.

Ah yes, sounds like par for the course. So far, I've had scratches, a damaged wheel, cigarette odor and a bent rear license plate (not sure how the hell they did that) and 3 visits to finally get the P2261 issue fixed. In my case, in addition to the bypass valve, an air tank or something for the vacuum was needed. I don't come around on this forum too often anymore because it depresses me to see all the problems.
