Hi, im new to this forum i have had my 94 roadmaster limited for about a year now and it has just about stopped being a reliable work car. Unfortuate. Now i do alot of autox with my 81 rx7. My question is how can i get horsepower and what components are the easiest to remove for wieght loss, ie seats so i can take this beast to the road track! I am a budget racer but thanks in advance for any help!

so if it's not a reliable work car how can be it a reliable track car? how is it not reliable? Perhaps you could use a full tune up..

Anyways there's an exhaust damper you can pull off that weighs 5-10lbs. Going to a tubular transmission crossmember can save 15 lbs. You can put in race seats and save 70lbs. I had some in my old car, perhaps the new owner (who doesn't like them) could sell you them. You can go from 11x2x4 drums out back to a skinnier one that saves 12lbs per axle.

9.5" diameter torque converter. Pullin the carpet.

What about removing the AIR pump (5 pounds), AC condenser and associated tubing (has to be at least 5lb).

Remove all 4 window motors, not sure you need them to keep the windows closed. They have to be a fair weight.

Remove the 4 door panels, spearkers. Remove the 2 rear load area panels, speakers. and 3rd seat/folding floor. Might be a bit noisy inside but hey, you want the weight out right?

And of course (duh) Remove spare and jack, put in lighter weight racing battery.

dont forget about the spare tire and jack etc etc... and maybe if you want to go all out you can get plastic windows.

Thanks for the tips, as to what type of racing its auto cross on a track so roadcorse plus addition pylons for more turns. The car still drives it just has a problem starting every now and again thats why it is not the most reliable. The car does how ever need to be able to get to the track, since im not renting a trailer or anything so it still has to be aesthetically pleasing.

i am considering ac delete and get an idler pully, whats best way to not release R12 into the aptmosphere?

it's r134a not r12.

Take it to a shop and let them remove the refrigerant. They probably won't charge you anything since your giving it to them. Just call an A/C shop and ask. Do you have a mechanical fan? If so, you can remove it and all associated parts and save about 22-25 pounds.

Well, so much for the removal of the hood, fenders, doors, dash, seats, glass, carpet, lights, trunk lid, bumpers........😉

okay awesome, i do drive this thing bare stock i have seen alot on taking of the air silencers, cheapest way to do it looks like the old pvc piping job. Exaust resonators deleted, removed rear seats. Gonna do intake today, any other quick suggestions, seems like buick tried to keep this beast quiet by restricting flow, i guess i dont know much about this vehicle, i will keep searching through the forums but any other help is much appriciated.

Removed exhaust resonator now exaust coming out behind rear wheels, looks better. 🙂 i have removed the rear seats as well, now i was looking at removal of the "air silencer" and the "home plate" looks like the cheapest route to go is the old pvc piping job. Seems like buick has restriced this car alot, i guess so its a quieter ride... I will be searching through the forums and find more info because i dont know much about this car. More opinions will be appreciatred, main concern is weight loss, she needs a diet. But quick cheap horsepower will be great as well.

Is there anything i can do about handling???

Sway bars would be fantastic, is there any car i can tear them off of? anything that can be retro fitted?

9c1 caprice or impala ss are slightly bigger than ours 94-96 cars.

I frickin' hate those seats. But I have never been a fan of even euro luxury seats, or just stock seats that really hold you tight. I like a thick, plush, seat. I will also be undoing the small drum brakes as well. 9C1 disc brakes!

I will gladly sell the seats.
