Just to start something I think Ill list the Tech Specs and yearly changes for anyone to look at in the future just for reference.

1991- Wagon only year 5.0l V8 w/170hp and 255tq.
1992- Sedan and wagon has 5.7l V8 w/ 180hp and 300tq.
1993- Sedan and wagon has no significant changes exept power window lockout protect and more sound deadening.
1994- Sedan and wagon have a big year w/ new detuned corvette LT1 making 260hp and 335tq and both get redesigned dashes with dual airbags and new gauges.
1995- Sedan and wagon get new radios and also recieve bigger side mirrors and heated and memory seats become an option. Still 260hp and 335tq
1996- Sedan and wagon get new collectors edition names and its their last year, they also receive new center consoles with more storage and they also each get automatic climate control and premium speakers standard. Finally they also recieve long life coolant, but in the process of getting OBDII computers they also loose like 5tq, now at 260hp and 330tq.
All years have a 4speed automatic trans.

Thank you! That was very informative.. I'm just gonna move it over into the Roadmaster forum though - if ya don't mind. 😛

You may want to add some more specific detail in reference to modding:

'94 The air pump hole in the manifold is a little different that that of 95-96. The plug for this hole is the exact same bolt as the oil drain plug.

'94 The chrome side trim moldings are metal and "bolted" into the car. This becomes a major problem when removing the molding. Be careful not to warp the body panels. I suggest a good bodyman before paint after this removal. The 95-96 are plastic and are glued on, easy to remove.

'94-'95 CHANGE OUT THE AUXILIARY BATTERY POST! NO QUESTIONS, JUST GET A BRASS POST!

'94-5-6: Change out the studs and bolts on the exhaust manifold. If they aren't broken now, they will be. No doubt, change them.

My 95 already had a brass post on it. I think by mid late 95 they started to address the battery post problem? I do however have a weird positive cable hookup on my car. Ill have to post pictures of it later to see what should be done about it.

How many of the Rm came in velour as opposed to leather? What about sun roofs, I've only seen those on the wagons?

Bolt pattern question

This is kind of topic but here goes. I am rebuilding my 69 Jeepster that came from the factory with a Buicl block and has a standard BOP bolt pattern. The wife blew the engine one night and I want to upgrade from the buick 225 to a 350 then as luck would have it I found a 94 roadmaster engine for sale and can't get to it to see the bolt pattern without driving across the country can anyone tell me if it has a standard BOP bolt pattern to fit a T400 tranny? and are the motor mounts the same as a conventional buick 350? everything else I can easily modify.

My wife bought me a book:

Standard Catalog of BUICK 1903-2000.

It has all the information you could ever want,
on every model...Including performance specs,
hp/torque numbers, and photos.

Including interesting history and stories all about Buicks.

I have the second edition, but I think there is a third.

You might take a look at this as an option.

My wife got me the Third edition for my last birthday, Dec. 06.

Was just re-reading this post.

Regarding the chrome belt line trim:

1992-1994 trim is stainless steel. It can be buffed and polished. Previous owner of my RMS rubbed the DS rear corner. I was able to polish out the blemish with Mothers Billet Polish. It was a fifty cent piece size area, and now the part looks like it was never damaged.

1995-1996 trim is "vacuum metallized plastic plated". Plastic trim.
I bought some used front trim pieces, and they are pitted from rocks and bugs. Can't really buff this stuff out, cause it'll just remove the plastic "chrome", and the plastic actually gets little dents in it.

It is possible to use the later chrome parts on the early cars. Just use 3M foam adhesive tape. I mention this because getting replacement beltline trim is getting harder and harder. NOS stuff is almost impossible to find.
Used stuff is almost always damaged in some way.

I had to use a used plastic chrome trim piece between my bumper over-riders when I did my front plate delete. It took awhile to find a NOS early metal part. It looked good, but it was really pitted if you looked up close.

The earlier metal trim is much more substantial.

Now if the earlier cars only had the big rearview mirrors, and not the door mounted ones....

48mm. you don't need bigger unless you start doing quite a few bolt ons. Spend money elsewhere.

Odd, Stewart, my 95 RMW with the metal and rubber bumper strips, the 'metal' part def feels cold and 'metal-ey' to me.... Maybe I have an anomoly!? I was using a razor scraper to get off old 3M red tape and it hardly scratched the chrome.

Who knows what the hell GM were up to.....!😕

I think all the wagons got the metal stainless steel trim.

The 95 & 96 sedans got the plastic metallized chrome trim.

I think that's right 🙂

I live in a sedan world....gotta remember those wagons too 😉

What's the difference between the 1994 / 1995 spark plug wire setup and the 1996 spark plug wire setup?

I bought a new ACDelco spark plug wire set (ACDelco part no. 718F / GM part no. 12096437) off of ebay for my 1996 roadmaster after only verifying the plug wires were for the correct make / model.

I failed to cross reference the YEAR (as well as the make/model) from the acdelco sight or from rockauto 😱. Oops.

Not as any OEM option. Sunroof's are added after the fact.

Hi, sorry, newbie here! Bolting up the air pump hole in the manifold in a '94? Woudl this be with an LO5 engine or an LT1?
I ask ebcuase I have a 1993 Fleetwood with an LT1 that is running badly. I took the air pump off and it was stiff as anything inside. Then a whole load of rust fell out and I found out it was totally corroded solid. Would this be a cause of bad running?
If you take the air pump out of the circuit what else do you have to do?
Thanks, Nick
