Tach Install on PCM!!

yes ....................

What's the smoothest place of threading the tach wire through the firewall?

Thanks,
/Chris

there's a plug on the driver's side firewall behind the fender if you look down you'll see it. Or drill your own.

I'm a lil new to dis.....what is the purpose of installing the "tach"???

Here's mine in an Autometer triple A-pillar pod:

It's the triple 2" pod.

The triple pod with the 2 5/8 bottom pod will hit the dash on a RM.

Matt helped me with my gauge pod choice as well as the tach hookup instructions.

Stewart,

What's that rectangular thing on the dash? A CD changer?

Also, a floor shifter? Has to be self installed? Didn't know that was even an option!

stewart's long gone.

I thought it might be a scangauge, don't remember.

Yeah you can get the shifter and console from a certain year bravada. Get some other hardware, and make your driver's side seat a bucket.. Lotsa write ups on ISSF IIRC

Yea it looks like a ScanGuage, I had one on my Toyota mounted off the mirror, won't work on my '92 Roadmaster though.

I have a 95 Skylark (3.1L) and am attempting to install a tach using a13 - however I cannot seem to find the red connector A. I have 3 connectors that I can see on the pcm/ecm, one of them is blue, one black, the other white and all of them have wires in hole 13. I cannot seem to find a red one (unless somehow its hidden on top of the pcm and not on the same side as the other 3). Any ideas where i should be looking? As far as I know the pcm for my car is under the glovebox and its a pain getting to the black connector without entirely removing the pcm from the car.

Thanks

^^ This pertains to Roadmasters. Not Skylarks.

Hopefully people still check this thread for info, but I am planning on getting some 12084913 pins to do the tach install on my 94 RMW and was wondering if anyone else was looking for them and had a hard time sourcing them?

I found several listings on ebay, amazon, and other connector-specific websites but they all require bulk purchases. I am planning on getting a 10-pack (since that's how they come), so I was hoping there might be other people looking for these connectors that would be interested in the left-overs (I need like 2, in case I mess one up). I tried a local GM/Buick dealer and they wont sell me one, and want $35 for a pack of 5....$7 for a pin connector is outrageous!

I'll put an ad up in the for sale forum after I place the order. I'm thinking like $1.50 per pin just to cover the part and a stamp, but I'll put specifics in the F/S area later. Hopefully this will help someone else out doing this upgrade to their car.

Hi all, I can't seem to see the pictures either. Tried using different browsers, etc. but no luck. Would really like to look into this so any help would be appreciated. New here so sorry if dumb mistake.

Welcome to the forums! If you are new here, you may not have access to sign in and the verification process can take several days. Be patient and try later. This thread is 10-yrs old, and it may be better to post a new thread with what you want to accomplish, rather than searching & posting in some old archived threads. BTW, I have no issue with viewing all the pics in this thread using the current Firefox browser.
