"The Dreamer" 2003 LeSabre Limited

After much research, discussing with my wife, and figuring out PRO/CON of the GPS device vs smartphone, I've decided to use my phone. BIGGEST point that convinced me is construction zones/jammed traffic/crash sites, GPS devices do not have that. Thanks for giving me ideas on GPS devices and I appreciate it.

Now, I noticed that my headliner is starting to sag in one small place. Front dashboard small area is starting to swell up a little, and so on. Is there any thread, here in buickforums, that have restoration/upholstery/fabric group of enthusiasts that keep their car to the original factory shape? I would LOVE to keep my car clean as if it came out of factory few minutes ago.
 
Glad you are doing so well with your new to you car. These cars are nice riding and driving and are very versatile.

As for the phone vs. GPS, the phone is the first choice for populated area driving. However, we learned our lesson during a sports car rally we participated in, if the cell towers are not there, neither is your map! We also experienced lack of cell towers when out west in the mountains. So if you are just staying in populated areas, the phone will be fine.

Yes, there are threads on here for dash and headliner refreshes. Each of these involves quite a bit of disassembly, so it’s best to do it in an area where you can spread pieces out and have the time to pull it apart, make the repair, and put it back together.

Drove from Mount Juilet TN to Bowling Green KY and back. 130.5 miles averaging 32.6 MPG!! Avoided highways, went on country road all the way, no faster than 55 mph!

I have to admit that 2003 Lesabre far exceeded what latest Altima model has to offer!
 
I am thinking about replacing oil pressure sensor by myself rather than sending it to auto shop. Is it possible to replace the oil pressure sensor without draining out the oil?
 
Just make sure to buy the appropriate socket to remove it.

Now I had my right window motor replaced under warranty.

Planning to replace oil pressure sensor at same time changing oil, filter and all that jazz.

Still loving Le Sabre, wish I bought it back in year 2003....

your car almost looks damp inside whats the humidity if you put a gauge in there
Humidity gauge is a fantastic idea! On my 1997 the headliner is perfect but the 2 visors are saggy/loose. When the weather gets warm I will fix each one by cutting an incision along one edge, then using "Krylon low odor spray glue" to lightly stretch the loose flap into place and trim the small leftover cloth.

I had been planning to do the super saggy headliner in my old 1993 but complications stopped me. The sagging fabric becomes stretched in both directions. My plan was to make a cut with scissors right down the middle from rear view mirror to the center of the back window. Then I would mark a centerline along the ceiling. I would do the passenger side first, then the drivers side. If the ceiling was loose and fuzzy, I would spray the ceiling and let it dry to consolidate the fuzz.

I would spray then attach long sections about 4-6 inches wide starting from the passenger side window area. If there was wrinkling I would try to have a single cross fold from B-pillar to B-pillar. I would make the fold first, then trim it later.

Grand plans, better left undone. But I will glue my little sun visors.
 
I got that car from Pennsylvania, the headliner was intact but not visors. I live in Tennessee, my wife and I always drive with 4 windows down. It peeled at start then led to that bubble. Right now it has grown bigger at the moment. Still looking for service that fix that headliner in Nashville.

Unfortunately, I've yet to see a LeSabre that didn't have saggy covering on the visors. It is a ritual of ownership to glue the loose areas on those things.

What I've always wondered is why the plastic panel, behind the visor, that flips downward when the visor is swung toward the side window, always look like it is missing a (padded?) piece...

Huh. my park avneue visors look pretty good compared I guess, must have gotten lucky lol. The plastic flip one yeah they are kinda... i mean they work, sure, but they definitely dont "feel" finished compared to the rest which seems more.

you dont have AC? if you have AC you will have better gas mileage with AC than windows down, but if you are comfortable with that heat then power to you lol
Id almost wonder if there is not a humidity issue contributing then, because it would be dry if you use AC.

To stop the headliner bubble from growing further try this: Get some small straight pins from the sewing store. All around the bubble insert pins at a low angle into the foam backing. Use a light touch and push the pin until only the head is showing. Go all the way around, spacing them every 2 or 3 inches. If you are really adventurous you can add some pins within the circle so the big bubble looks more like many small bubbles. If you let it grow, and it will, it will look like a collapsed pup tent.
