The Ultimate Buick Regal Is Discontinued Discussion

Seriously if you're coming on here to b*tch and moan about depreciation and resale value...why are even buying a Buick? GM is notorious for high depreciation...it is what it is. Buy a freaking Toyota or Subie if you're MOST concerned about financial value. Geez.

I have owned over 30 new cars since 1974. Strangers in parking lots have only said that they thought the car was cool on 2 of them. Chevy Volt and the Tourx. Several people said that they had never seen any ads for the cars. Who does GM talk to when they take the temperature of the car buying public?

Heaven knows, not us. But I'm perfectly happy with both this car, and my previous one (also dropped by the importer 1 year later). I don't think I've ever purchased a vehicle with the thought of either its re-sale value (honestly--does anyone buy a car for a good return on investment?) or how popular it is.

I can remember one other time that we have to think about resale value, and it is a very unfortunate event.
When we are involved in an accident and the vehicle is totaled, the resale value comes into play.
First hand experience on that. 😓

Gm, should fire all upper management before they go bankrupt again!

Not sure about the laws in EU for bringing our cars there.
It would be a sight to see with a double cab long bed 2500 in Paris! 🤣
Every time I am over in Germany I see a couple Dodge Rams and Chevy Silverados used as work trucks. More common when you are in areas near a US military base.

Can anyone provide any evidence that the 2020 Regal is not a Unicorn?
Like Photo’s, Listing or Advisement's, Invoices, Build Sheets, VIN tags, etc.

Thank you

Everyone keeps saying(at least publicly) the 2020 Regal is still a thing...but there are none to be found thus far and its a little concerning we are in December. Also, those that ordered 20s have been given conflicting info. I know the official company line is the Regal is alive for 2020, but I wouldn't be surprised is GM has already thrown in the towel at this point. 🙁

It depends on what their obligations to PSA and the Russelsheim factory are. How many Regal specific parts are sitting around and waiting for use?

How many of those parts are going to get socked away for repair parts? (Those still waiting on parts would say they hope the answer is "lots")

I think they are done. Anything sold in 2020 will probably be left over 2019's. Took my TourX in for it's last free oil change in Nov. and the dealer just received a 2019 GS after having no Regals for most of 2019. I recall the 2019's started to show up late (fall time period) in 2018 on lots.

Apparently it is now official...according to USA Today and other sources Buick has officially decided to drop the Regal line which includes the Sportback, GS and TourX models, after model year 2020.

While I would have never considered the new Regal for several reasons and I do understand the market has gone 100% SUV crazy. GM is really making horrible decisions that do remind me of what lead them to their bankruptcy. Other than the Camaro (days numbered as well) and the Corvette, there's not much compelling at GM these days. Admittedly, I'm a car guy, not a truck guy, so I'm a bit bias. The problem is, their sedans had devolved into cookie-cutter clones of everyone else's sedans. So it's no wonder that when GM charges as much or more than the competition and offers little else, that this is what happens.

I'm as die-hard GM as they come and have not owned anything but GM vehicles. My next one however, will not be. Whether I give in and get a truck or some other SUV, or another car, it won't be from GM.

Agree, the world is all about crossovers and SUV's at this point. Buick is still considered an "old folks" car even to this day so I can see them wanting to pair down their offerings.

I love My 2018 GS .I Drive the Crap out of it. Runs like a Champ and it's Fun to Drive.Instant Classic!

I don't think anyone is shocked by the early retirement of the Tourx. It's the Aztek of Buicks. Looks fantastic from the front, but the minute you see the big squatty loooong side view, that's where you lose 99% of buyers. But I do agree, none of these are worthy of the "classic" name. They had a great run, but it's time for Buick to get away from the "old timers" nameplates.

I hope there will be 2020's.

The more units we get stateside the better chance they will be in junk yards when we really need parts!
