The Ultimate Buick Regal Is Discontinued Discussion

Also..this is NOTHING like an Aztek. That thing was ugly, ugly, ugly.

General consensus is the TourX looks great to MOST people..not just us weirdos.(i.e. plenty of good reviews)

Apparently it is now official...according to USA Today and other sources Buick has officially decided to drop the Regal line which includes the Sportback, GS and TourX models, after model year 2020.

Yes all official sources say "AFTER" 2020....

My point is I would not be surprised if in reality it was ALREADY dead..i.e. no true 2020 models produced/shipped....

I love all you guys...but FFS can we stop posting essentially the same article over and over in multiple threads.

We all know by now the Regal is officially dead after 2020 and Buick will have no more passenger cars(only suvs, crossovers)

Can we please just go back to arguing over "87 vs 93" octane or do another oil thread..PLEASE.

Missing the good old days....

I think the TourX is actually quite attractive - unlike the Aztek.

On a side note, my father had an Aztek for a number of years. His previous car was starting to really get up in miles and he popped in the dealership to start looking at a replacement. The Aztek had been at the dealership for well over a year and the owner wanted it out - badly. The sales manager said if my dad had any interest whatsoever - make an offer and don't be afraid to lowball. He came back the next day with a real lowball (and what he even though ridiculous offer). The owner rejected at first but called him back at the end of the day to say, 'you have a deal - get it out of here.'

At the end of the day he drove the Aztec for number of years (6-8?) and actually loved it for camping and road trips. Said once you got past the looks, it functioned well and was reliable.

Saw an Aztec at a grocery store a few days ago, I'd forgotten how hideous they looked in person. To be fair, they were in the forefront of the "wheeled sneaker" look that is so popular with CUVs today.

Yep, I still get the "old folks" thing all the time about my Regal, but that's one of the reasons I love it. I just thought the newer Regals were a little bland on styling. Still better than the Malibu I guess. I would have been able to look past it's design, if they had paired a manual with that V6. Wishful thinking I know, but really wish they could have done that.

We need to go through the stages of grief, Man.

I wonder what its like to get frustrated over duplicate posts. Seems tragic

Ok,
I guess it is not that important, but I still have no idea if a 2020 Buick regal exists in this or some parallel universe?
Goes to show how discombobulated GM is.

Let's be honest; the "Buick Regal" was dead the moment it became a rebadged something else.

@mike69440 YES, there will be 2020 Regals hitting stateside soon. I know because I work at a Buick dealer and have a 2020 Regal Sportback Essence on order. It is now showing 3550 status, which means it is on the slow boat from Europe. Buick will finish the "buildout" of whatever Regal orders they have accepted and not cancelled as well as finish shipping over those cars that have already been built.

So for clarification..if you ordered one you are *probably* safe, but if you're hoping to pick one off dealer lots it may be slim pickings because they have stopped "making" them and the only ones coming over are already in the pipeline <i.e. a very short 2020 run)?

Do I have that right?

Question: Do you know if they are(or will) accept new orders for the 2020s? I think a couple people here were told they could not order...

Does anyone really want a 2020 with a CHEVY warranty vs the BUICK warranty that the 18-19 still sitting on dealer lots have?

Maybe someone is really hung up on an option package/color combo they can't find on a a lot anywhere...

Correct, if you ordered one and GM accepted the order, you should be safe.

I've heard from others on here that some orders have been cancelled, but I can't verify which orders those were.

They stopped taking orders a month or two ago, and that is still true now. They are done taking orders.

So my car and however many else they had in this first "shipment" are currently on their way over.

They will finish the buildout of any orders left and ship those over as well. So yes, it will be a very short run for 2020 Regals. I imagine some of those orders were just dealer stock, so there may be some to choose off the lot, just not sure how many.

While I'm pretty unhappy they reduced the warranty, I wanted very specific options and also wanted the latest model as well as one that did not sit forever on the lot. I can purchase an extended bumper to bumper warranty to bring it back up to what it was.
