Hello all! I am a newbie...as I have just purchased a new 2014 Verano. This vehicle meets all my needs for quiet & smoothness, however there is one area that makes me unhappy with this car. At highway speeds, [70-80mph] the car some times feels as if it wanders a bit, maybe "tramlining" is the correct term. I have never experienced this with any other vehicle I have owned. It is not extreme by any means, but I am sensitive enough to feel it. My first thought are the Tires. I have noticed that ALL Verano's seem to be shod with the same Tire...Continental-ContiproContact unlike other makes with models that come equipped with differing makes. Significant? Any feedback from resident experts would be greatly appreciated as I am losing sleep over this purchase. Thanks.

😱Hi, I just contacted GM about my 2013 verano that drifts to the right. I have an old 2002 lesabre that tracks better then this car. I find the drifting very annoying. The dealer found nothing wrong and rotated the tires etc. Iam wondering if it is a bad caliper or alignment. I hope to resolve his because there seems to be others with this problem. A special note, this car rides great and is very quiet at highway speeds.:icon:

@ carbearator, Sorry to hear of your Issue. Sure hope you can get it resolved. Keep us posted. My car just does not seem connected to the road at speed, otherwise it is a gem. I have tried other Verano's and some mimic mine but to a much lesser degree.

Did you other car have electric steering? This may be the difference and nothing is wrong with your car. But check your tire pressures and ask the dealer to confirm the alignment on the car.

No, my previous car's have not had electric steering, but I understand why you mention it. Don't think that is the problem though. I tried a different set of new Pirelli's but that accentuated the Issue some. Alignment has not been checked yet...will see to that this week. Thanks for your Input.

P.S. Tire pressure's was the first thing I checked. They were spot on.

Jetjock, when I first purchased my Verano several thousand miles ago, I thought the steering felt a little 'twitchy', almost as if it was too sensitive. This was disconcerting, especially when driving in heavy traffic. Since then, it has improved to the point where I no longer think about it, either because the tires have some wear on them, or maybe I've gotten used to it. Probably some of both. In any case, a few days ago I had the occasion to run my Verano up to about 110mph (don't ask why), and it was very solid and controllable at that speed. So in your case, I think if you just give it some time, you may feel much better in another couple months.

Thanks tbacba for your words of comfort. You may be right...I'll definitely hang in there a while longer. Will post with any new news. Thank's again.

All tires had 34psi in them. the door jamb sticker say's 32psi, so 34psi is certainly permissible.

I took my V on the freeway today and got up to 80 miles and had no problems of any kind. Carleen

We ran "Vern" from Ft. Worth to Stillwater, Oklahoma and back last week so about 512 miles round trip at slightly greater than posted highway speeds (75 mph in Texas / 70 mph in Oklahoma). Car tracked like a dream and got us 29 mpg for the trip. Car has about 19,000 miles on 3 of the 4 original continental tires running 30 psi front 32 psi rear per the door sticker.

Have you had the dealer check the alignment?

I just had mine in service for steering wheel issues. It felt like it was slightly binding up. So they gave me a 2014 Verano and its steering was perfect in every way.

They said my 2013 Verano was operating as designed, although the newer model loaner felt night and day different.

So I'm keeping an eye on it but my car has a different feel to it than that loaner did for sure.

i don't have any issues with the way my 2014 handles on the freeway....

I brought all these issues up for my steering problems. And they said its normal...

The Service managers advice was to keep bringing it back until they get tired of it, and will find the issue eventually.

I thought this was BS though, so maybe it is normal? Meaning my vehicle issues, since it only occurs in cruise or highway speeds.

Tramling is a tire follow road ruts. I have a couple of streets near work like that but seen highways this side of the Mississippi that bad. Is it any particular lane?

My previous car had a sport suspension and handling pkg switching to the Verano when I first got mine I thought the steering was very light and twitchy on the hwy now after 8000km I no longer notice or feel it I've had the car a little past 170kmph and it was very stable.

O.P Update! Recently took my Verano back to the dealership to meet with the "Service Director" who is above the Service Manager. He drove my car and admitted that the rear of the car does wander & twitch....and that he had been assigned four Demo Verano's over a period of time, and that they ALL did this. He stopped short of calling it a defect, and said there was no fix. So I am baffled that no one else on this forum is as attuned as me as to this "Trait or Phenomenon". I have been driving for fifty years, & have driven over dozens of makes & models and feel well qualified to critique how a vehicle performs. I have started the arbitration process and hope I can resolve this. The fact that a Service Director already knew what I was complaining about [And verbalized it] before he drove the car tells me that deep in General Motors there are one or more engineers that are aware of this Issue but are burying it. Any comments or feedback will be welcomed.
