verano stalling randomly w/ service power steering light on

I recently purchased a 2013 buick verano. me and the wife love the car but after about a month or 2 of having the car we started having issues where the car would stall out at randoms times. and once the vehicle has stalled out it will throw a message up on the message center saying service power steering. everything else in the vehicle works but the vehicle will not start back up until you hard reset the vehicle (unplug battery for about 30 secs) and then the car will run flawless again for a while. there is no pattern for when it shuts off or if it is gonna it is completely random. i am not a certified tech but i am a very mechanically inclined person and i am absolutely stumped. i have scowered the internet and have not been able to find anything that is even remotely close to the problems we are having. we are desperate to find the answer to this problem so we can start fulling enjoying our buick! all help is appreciated thanks in advance! also its worth noting that it doesnt throw any codes while this is happening
Hi, were you able to fix it? What was the end result?

That poster was last seen on May 14, 2019 so response may not be coming.

I’m having the exact same problem. He has been at two different mechanics and so far they don’t know why this is happening.

Let me know if the issue went away after or is still present after installation. I have the Dealership Buick Verano service manual for this vehicle. I'm having a look through. This manual is literally the Bible for the Verano.
Can u tell me what it means when it says service stability track? It’s a 2012 Verano

There are many things that can cause the StabiliTrak system to lose its ability to function. It is a complex system.

Loss of StabiliTrak is not really going to be noticed during normal driving. It really only gets use in an emergency situation.

Your first step if problem is occurring , is to look at diagnostic codes. Then go from there. Fix could be something as simple as a faulty sensor etc.

thanks i have actually checked both these sites already and neither of these sites describe what is going on with ym vehicle i know for a fact that the stalling and the service power steering messgae are related because one doesnt show withoit the other
I’m having the exact same issue with a 2012 Buick Verano. I’ve had my car in three different shops have spent almost $3000. And still having the problem it’s random so it’s hard for them to figure it out. Not happy that the money I’ve spent didn’t fix the problem and nothing I can do about that.

I too am waiting for my cable.

For the Cruze, this is the Bulletin explaining the symptoms:

As the owner of a 2011-2015 model year Chevrolet Cruze vehicle, your satisfaction with our product is very important to us. This letter is intended to make you aware that some 2011-2015 model year Chevrolet Cruze vehicles may have a condition where the negative battery cable terminal clamp may have an insufficient crimp at the battery negative terminal. Over time, the internal resistance increases and vehicle electrical systems do not receive adequate power. With this condition, the following effects are possible: the Radio/HVAC Display may turn off and on; the Antilock Brake System, Service Traction System, Service Stabilitrac and Steering vehicle messages may come on and off; the turn signal sound may not be heard; “Battery Saver Active” and “Service Steering” may display in the Driver Information Center (DIC); and the interior and exterior lighting may flicker. Power steering assist may also be lost, and greater effort may be needed to turn the steering wheel at low speeds or while the vehicle is stopped.
Can this be happening on my 2013 buick verano? Because the steering assist service and stable track came on after I disconnected the battery

I have a 2014 Verano had similar problems. Check the intake and exhaust camshaft sensors they are on the top of the engine. The power steering for me was a weak battery since the Verano uses and electric motor for their steering. Hope this helps.

My 2012 Buick Verano has started stalling then restarting on its own (of course while I’m in the middle of traffic). Then recently the power steering goes out, was able to make it to the curb. Turned the car off, started the car, received messages to lower & raise the driver’s window then the passenger window, then restart the car. So, I did and was able to get home safely. Now, I’m researching to see what is causing these issues. Car was just in a dealership to replace both the intake and exhaust sensors which apparently has not fixed the random stalling issue.

Any suggestions what to look at or do next?

Did you find a solution? My car does the same thing.
I've read on this forum (and experienced myself) that weird electrical things and messages happen when the battery or battery cables are not working properly. If you haven't had those checked, it's worth a try.

I agree.. sounds like a issue with the battery or leads

Thank you!!

definitely start by checking cables and their connection.

had this issue after replacing the AMP fuse. I didn't tighten the negative cable well enough and had the same issues you described.

disconnected for 5 minutes to reset and re-connected negative cable. haven't had an issue yet
