What did you do to your Regal today?

Ordered a brembo conversion kit for my 14 2.0T premium Today, still impatiently patiently waiting for my tune to return.
I’ve always wondered how the non-Brembo cars stop vs the GS. I know the GS stops very well when I stomp on it. You’ll have to let me know if you notice the change. Also, just fronts or all 4 on the conversion?

There's definitely a cool factor with the look of the Brembo brakes, but there's very little difference in braking distance between the two systems.

I think I’ve just gotten used to having the Brembos. Lol. I’d eventually like to get the tears just so it matches...

I’m only switching the fronts for now. I wasn’t sure if the rears in the GSs had a different setup back there. According to the IIHS which is how I got the go ahead from the wife it makes a significant difference lol. In the picture the only difference is the gs and then the other models

I think the rear Brembos are actually from a Cadillac, but I’m not 100% sure. It’d be neat to see. I think you’ll be able to use some Camaro rotors now on the conversion as well. Opens up options for “performance” rotors.

Yeah it comes with rotors but for sure next rotor swap I’ll get some slotted rotors with the yellow pads. I enjoy going on cruises with the local car clubs and keeping up with the sport cars In my old man sedan. That’s how my 300 was. I hope for the same with this.

I’ve never driven the other so I haven’t felt it yet. I’d imagine there’s some kind of difference. You don’t think with an added inch of braking surface being added as well as extra piston to evenly apply force to that larger surface.

According to Motor Trend the 60-0 braking distance of a 2014 Regal Turbo AWD is 111 feet and a 2014 Regal GS AWD is 105 feet. That's only a 5% difference so it will be hardly noticeable.

There is more to brake systems than stopping distance on a single application basis. Larger brakes, and better vented brakes, are designed not only with improved stopping distance in mind, but also improved stopping distance in frequent and repeated applications. ie: the track. So no, for street applications, the 6 feet is "hardly noticable" (as long as there are no fixed objects between 105 and 111 feet, of course), but for application other than street, the differences are viable.

Removed the dip off my wheels to add a new color. Yes I dip my stock wheels because I’m not ready for aftermarket wheels and I don’t like the chrome, it’s also a daily not a show car lol. Big brake kit has arrived along with the new color for the wheels. Front lip has been ordered but I don’t expect that for 3+ months.

Hope you didn't go black with the color. 🙁

my car is anthracite blue so no black for me lol. I went hyper graphite. Not my wheels in the picture but that’s the color.

well I was hoping to say I got my brembos installed as well as new wheel bearings but I currently can’t get the damn assembly off. 65k on the car and my 140k wheel bearings on the 300 weren’t even this bad.

Personally, I think the standard Premium II disc brakes are weak...at least compared to my 2011 Honda CRV w 90k miles...OUCH! I might need to make the switch to Brembos, if the results are noticeable.

This is why I loved having a mechanic as a neighbor. He saw me struggling with a front wheel bearing once and laughed and had it all taken care of in literally a few minutes.

I’m a mechanic 🤦🏽‍♂️😂, but this was on there. I shattered the hub assembly hitting it so hard 1st picture. Had to wait for a friend to get off work and bring a makeshift tool and we pounded it out in 30 seconds.

I am too.. that's the hell of it (actually I think I was certified shortly after that, and it's in a different industry). And damn. Good you got it taken care of. My '91 Cadillac with 130,000 miles at the time didn't have an assembly seized that badly!
