ZZP Intake

My K&N came in. I installed it but have yet to drive it. I fired it up and revved, but it doesn't really make much of a difference. I'll report back tomorrow after I've actually driven the car.

Of course you will not hear the turbo spool up and release just by revving the gas. The engine has to be under load, such as driving for this to happen. Try and drive the car, then punch it. You will be happy with the sound you hear.😀

Sorry, I'm used to my Cooper S that screamed when you revved her. I can't wait to hear the results tomorrow morning.

Yes, with the K&N filter there definitely is an increase in the noise. It's nice. Nothing too extreme. I'm guessing because it's free flowing. And the OEM filter has a piece of cotton material underneath it as well I'm assuming helps with noise suppression. Now, if someone would make an aggressive waste gate, I'd be happy.

Sorry for the delayed response on this. I was out of town when this was going on. I checked this intake when it was returned to ZZP. Unfortunately, it had been shipped with the wrong silicone 90 that connects to the turbo. We have 3 different intakes that use a very similar coupler. Unfortunately, we did not have proper documentation for shipping to make sure the correct coupler was included. This caused the intake to sit too far towards the passenger side and it would not bolt to the engine correctly. I apologize for the issue. We do not have problems like that very often.

thanks,
Matt M

Thanks for the clarification and the early support of the Regal!!

ZZP stayed in contact with me the whole time throughout all this and also gave me a full refund. It was an honest mistake and their customer service handled everything accordingly. I can and sure will see myself buying other products from ZZP in the future. Can't wait for the front mount intercooler!

What else is zzp gonna come out with?

The factory intercooler is a thin core sandwiched between the AC condensor and the radiator the same way the Cruze is set up. Our kit will use an intercooler very similar to our LNF Cobalt IC.

WOW, I can't wait to take a look. If what I can picture in my mind, the intercooler SUCKS!!! No pun intended. Of course I haven't had the opportunity to drive this car in the Summer to see how performs in heat. A better intercooler would be nice!!

Hey every one recently bought a regal gs 2012 about 3 months ago love it i have a trifecta tune with the zzp CAI and it sounds great way better then the stock air intake box as for power gains didnt feel too much of a difference but the sound amplified 2x then the stock so if your looking for a louder turbo swoosh then i would highly recommend it and install time was about 30min.

Question has anyone taken there regal to the track yet i have and ran a 15.00 think i can do better just very hard to get traction out the dig and other then trifecta tune anyone know of a good and reliable place to do a dyno run and tune in the bay area?

Any of our vendors working on an intercooler for us?

IPF has one in Arizona that needs a test fit but with no local GS around they can't fit it and won't ship it.to someone because IPF needs to tweak it for fitment

ZZP has one made for 1000 which is too much for my taste even with my turbo , but they have one out and than there MGI in Greece they have one for.the.Insignia which would be my choice .. last I spoke to MGI it was.750 shipped to America

Wondering if anyone on here switched from the zzp intake to the gm stage kit intake? If so a quick overview of the differences noticed would be appreciated. I'm looking for the right intake for my regal and while I was keen on getting the mdesign product they have seemed to have gone quiet. That leaves zzp and gm stage as the only items on the market -- with the gm stage kit being twice the cost of the zzp intake (which includes a tune that I won't use since I'm running IPF/trifecta). So, what's the best intake out there? The gm kit is attractive to me because 1 it draws cold air and 2 it should be quieter since its in he box. More sound than stock will be great but I don't need it to be too loud. Interestingly, I've heard that warm air intakes like zzp actually lead to better mpg's so that's one positive for that intake.

I have it.
The good: the Intake helps the lag you feel in first gear.
The bad: unless you plan on adding the trifecta tune and a aftermarket mass air flow sensor The Zzp intake will cause rough idling and sometimes cut the car off.

Get the GMPP INTAKE it looks better and it specifically designed for the regal without any additions needed completely plug and play....plus with the trifecta tune 80 to 100whp
