Disable Automatic Stop/Start

On the range technology, whats up with the LED? Is it on all the time? Is the LED an annoyance?

it is on when the car is on. It matches the cars lighting really well and is not annoying at all. I like it.

Currently my biggest irritation with the stop start is that when the dealer loaned me an Envision there was a big prominent button on the dash to kill the stop/start. We should have at least ranked higher than that as Regal customers.

What color do you have? I picked blue color, the unit came in, but I'm not home to test it.

The LED stays on while the car is running, I assume to let you know the device is working. When you first start the car it flashes a few times and then stays solid. I did notice when the car is stopped the light seems to be a little less bright.

It is not an annoyance for me because you can only tell it is lit at night (when the inside of the car is dark). Because of the placement of the device (under the steering wheel) it only ends up illuminating the area around my left foot. I only notice it if I look down at my feet (which I normally don't do while I am driving!). It actually kinda fits in with the ambient lighting system of my car. I also chose the blue.

Based on the recommendations posted on this forum I purchased the Ranger Technologies device last week for my 2019 TourX. I paid $189 with free shipping. Even with standard shipping it arrived in two days. Plugging the device into the port under the dash took about 10 seconds. It works perfectly...eliminating ASS. Remote start and all other functions are not changed. It's a bit pricey, but in my opinion well worth it.

I also bought the Ranger Technologies option last week. I bought it from Amazon (recognizing it is technically a third party seller, so warranty is not guaranteed). I went with green LEDs because it was cheaper, and I already covered them with tape anyways. Like the other option, Ranger won't ship to California. Amazon was less expensive, arrived in two days, and shipped direct to California. I didn't have to ship to someone out of state and have them bring it or re-ship. I also have the Amazon Visa card, so that saved me a little more too.

Device itself seems to work fine. I don't use remote start, but it's nice to have a device that can be easily and quickly unplugged as needed.

Ranger does sell (with warranty) on AutoAnything, and the pricing is more competitive than direct from Ranger. It also looks like AutoAnything ships direct to California.

Finally put RangerTechnology in. Car drives like a normal car again. Remote start works like it should. Probably best $189 I have spent this year!!!

This is how module is lighting up at night.

If that is your left foot then that is similar to what mine looks like. Although the lighted area on mine appears to be somewhat smaller - most likely the OBD port on my car (2019 Regal Sportback) might be in a slightly different position than on your car.

This is the left foot.

2019 tourx, bought new last week for wifey.

Just ordered range technology from autoanything.com for 144$ shipped.
Cheapest i could find it. They also have weathertech window vents.

Now all i have to find for my oldman's car is some stick on portholes, curb feelers and anti-static straps, lol. (I'm 65, the older folks will know what i mean)

The RangeTechnology device just plugs into the OBD port that is underneath your steering wheel. There is no on/off switch - just plug and go.
Looking this up on amazon has an "also viewed" inline toggle switch for the OBD2 port, so someone could make this a latching disable button.

I got that, but it tells me that it is acting like an on/off switch that you can see on Opel/Vauxhall , rather than harness with time delay relay, that simulates an open hood for a second. Would be interesting to see what is inside the module and how it interacts with OBD port.
I've been watching the voltage on the dash while the car has the ASS engaged, and noticed when the voltage drops to @12.2v it starts back up. I wonder if this is how this device works(modifying voltage level signal), as that should be the easiest/least intrusive.

I would check the voltage on mine.

On Range Technology . Back of box says "Unplug it if the vehicle will not be driven for a few days. There MAY be a draw on the battery in SOME vehicles!" Anyone know how to tell is our "X" is one of those vehicles?

Be cautious and just unplug it. I've noticed on the TourX that the USB ports do not immediately power off when the vehicle is shut off. My F150 Heritage had a power port (cigarette lighter) that didn't power off when the ignition was off. I was living next door to a highway patrolman who left his radar on all weekend. My radar detector killed my battery.
