LED Backup and Turn signal Bulbs

So here is a description of the lights from GM. The rear fog lights are listed as an option code but it's all controlled through the BCM.

So, can we actually have rear fog enabled on our vehicles?
That sure would freak out the general public not knowing what is it and think it is a malfunctioning brake lamp.

I highly suspect it would have to be a hack to get the rear fog activated on a NA vehicle. The code exists, but it does not exist for the vehicle configurations we have here.

Software configs are by VIN, which is homologated for a specific market.

These work great without any modifications for Reverse lights. Been couple weeks with them and no issues!

So I purchased the attached, same company and bulb fitment, and both lights stayed illuminated while off.
May hunt for some others to see if I can get away with them.
Have a direct link to those You found?

Thanks for that. Just ordered and will see if this works.

Previous bulbs fit and lit very well! But just wouldn’t go off when car was off. Had them in for min. Went to reinstall the halogens and when one halogen loaded, the other LED shut off; I guess the LEDs don’t draw enough power to keep everything in line. Maybe the new ones will? If not, I’ll look for resistors.

These should work just fine!

They work! They Sure do!!
Popped them in and they work! Awesome find man. Thank you for the link! I’ve shared in the Facebook Buick Tourx page; I gave you credit as well.

It might be possible. Saabs (late ones shared Opel platforms) were highly configurable for around the world with Tech 2 for various lighting and other settings controlled by the BCM. The challenge was finding a tech who was knowledgable or willing to hunt around for settings. All my Saabs except my last 9-5 have had the rear fog lamp standard, we get some bad fog here certain times of the year, I wish more cars had it.

🙂 ...OR you can just toss the adapter and spend some quality time underneath (and to the left of) the glove box. The green/violet wire coming from the black connector on the BCM is the front right turn signal, the blue/white wire coming from the brown connector is the front left. I attached a 2-cond cable to those and tucked it under the plastic door mouldings (hats off to Wlepse & Zaxer for their wiring suggestions).

Next signal needed was the 'high brake' wire which is a violet/white wire tucked-up above the left rear wheel well.

You will still need the 2x 8 ohm 50W to keep the BCM from hyper-flashing the turn signals; and I'll remind you again I've replaced the rear turn signal bulbs with LED's to minimize the current load. Signing off now.

Will this procedure work the same for the 18s red needle tour x?

I think it should work--but before splicing into any existing wire, I'd recommend testing the wire at the connector (body control module for the turn signals, rear hatch connector for the brake signal) for the proper function with an automotive circuit tester (basically a 12V logic probe). I know I had about 3 wires--all with the same colour code--on the rear connector for the 'high' brake line--only one of the was the actual brake circuit. I also replaced the side repeater turn signals with LED units to help reduce the electrical load of adding the rear turn signal LED's to the front turn signal circuit.

These bulbs seem to work well in my car as well. I haven't been able to test brightness, but the back up camera turns off and there are no errors.
Got these in this week and installed them this afternoon, Took about 10 minutes and works fine!

Aftermarket LED lamps cause so many documented problems on modern vehicles now. From voltage spikes damaging HMI/audio components and battery drain. I wouldn't install them.

BCM isn't designed to work with bulbs that have the wrong internal resistance and circuit protection.

Very good point. My issue is that the factory incandescent bulbs are not bright enough at night when backing up. I'm not sure why the backup lights were not LED from the factory.

May not help but for my 17 I actually went to the store and bought the Phillips brand that matched the bulb #.
No problems at all and along with the license plate lights made a 1000% difference using the backup camera.
