Buick Lucerne Mods

Probably too late to this thread but i was wonder if anyone could provide more information on a good legitimate performance chip to add mpg.

Starting to personalize my buick lucerne and thought maybe other lucerne owners would like to see its slow process and maybe get some ideas
Hey yours looks really good. Better than mine honestly because unfortunately where I lived until recently had a tree that had the worst sap the landlord wouldn't do anything about it. I blacked out my grille with Plasti Dip results were reasonably pleasing, and rather than doing black in the ventiports, I did mine with red on the inside with the outside staying Chrome. But other than that tried to follow very similar to what you ultimately did. Because of area laws leaving my headlights and taillights Illuminating the normal color unless I find out to the contrary and can do my tail lights but I know I can't do much like what you did with on my headlights. Will try to post pictures eventually. Although another thing I did was dress up the engine bay and repaint the engine while it was out

Some options on headlight and taillights, I didn't want to go the dark tint but wanted to knock down some of the plain Jane shiny on the lights. So light smoke on the headlights and flyeye on the rear, think looking at a microwave door glass which seems more popular in the EU, also in line with a slight increase in the Lumens of LED's to offset any decrease in output. Basically they look factory bright when on and have never had a issue from on coming drivers flash or law enforcement going on years and various states.

Unfortunately im regretting using night shade tint because my light tint is starting to fade now. They're still smoked a bit but im gonna have it professionally done soon. I have some clear coat thats peeling on the roof soon so im gonna paint it black. Whenever i do that I'll them redo my lights. Also found a nice trunk spoiler lip on amazon that should add a little sportier look to the back cuz in my opinion the back of the lucerne looks a bit naked. Also gonna add some side window deflectors and possibly factory splash guards. Still looking for the front bumper with the right grill shape w/ fog lights or considering a custom fog light install.

Which performance chip did you get? Will you post a link to said performance chip?

I cut my 2008 Buick’s muffler off and put a glasspack and a diesel truck tip and sounds mean asf

Never kept posting because I fell on hard times. Unfortunately my baby was back into a couple weeks ago and wrecked my tail light and destroyed my bumper. Its at the body shop now and Insurance is paying. We'll see what happens. Hopefully they put the 09 bumper on and not an 07. I'm doing a little better Financially now too so i will start posting here again on my journey of refurbishing my 07 lucerne cx. Almost 140k on her and still running strong, albeit theres several things that a car of this age needs. Suspension and brakes are my number one. Going to be converting rear air shocks to load strut assembly by Monroe.

No problem with a sleeper vehicle, it's the owners I worry about nodding off.

They're eyes don't need to be closed for them not to see lol I worry about them even driving. I think at some point they should make you do a driving test all over again and if u can't pass it, that's it, no more license for you gramps

They are just sent to Florida, unfortunately it still leaves the entire other 47 states of free range idiots to contend with lol

Back on performance mods, steering post back around, the 3.8L Lucerne has zero available support. Even a few things that I've done some were to do as much investigation on the part, cross reference it to other GM like vehicles and take a leap of faith that it worked out. When getting a response from ZZP as "we don't know but it should work" kinda makes you feel like the redheaded step child at Christmas dinner of vehicles.

There is a JET stage 1 and 2 plug in module but little to go on as they didn't have a data sheet, at least when I looked last week again, claiming X amount of HP but not seeing where or if it may kick in kinda puts it in the wishful thinking parts bin, so it's a pass.

Compared to what I've built in the past the Lucerne has gotten minor mechanical upgrades that would work without having to get a tune but would benefit if available. It's a 3800 NA engine so even if everything could be tossed at it, it would be limited to where other engines I've had were starting at that were also NA.

Most of the other upgrades I've done are suspension / brakes so from my seat of the pants made probably the biggest difference especially on highway speeds. It goes where it's pointed and it's not like before where it felt like it was indecisive. Brakes were no more than rotors / pads as the only other option would have been to get the CSX front brake system but this route was honestly the easiest. Lord knows they have been tested and not in a nice controlled environment but I'm happy how they performed and no accidents because of others.

Never said the Lucerne was a muscle car, owned and built enough of them to know the difference, but it seems others with less knowledge might get confused or maybe it could be a senior moment. Very few of the vehicles I've owned remained stock, well the old person's Lesabre is the exception LMAO.
