If I'm not mistaken, last year I shared the files off my USB updates with another member on this forum and the only thing they did was update the
VIN in one of the text files, copied to a USB and was able to install the update.
I realize its a different version, but there has to be a geek out here that can help you out.
USB updates to infotainment software updates are a different thing.
The deal with the SD card map data is the car's Android system writes (formats/initializes) the card in some way that involves more than a text file. I made Windows full sector images of the virgin 84530371 card & the card after it was installed, and compared them, swapped files, etc. - but there's some data written to the card i can't even access via Windows (e.g. the CID info) involved.
Unless i get a Linux or Android based image of the virgin card before installing it, i'll never get back to knowing what the original data on the card was
😒
That also involves reading the card directly with SD card reader hardware (not USB adapter) on a system running Linux or Android.
... was hoping someone just tried to move the map data and keep the
VIN files.
I can tell you this, because i did it - you can copy the original files that Windows
can read, delete them from the
VIN-locked card and copy them back to the card and that works, but doesn't really get us anywhere. I tried copying that data from a 84530371 card to a
VIN-locked 84364481, just to see if the updates were transferable, but that didn't work. I then replaced the original files back to the 84364481 card and it worked as it always had, but i was just lucky. The
VIN-specific data that the car's system wrote to the card stayed recognized by the vehicle.
This is not to suggest that i have a handle on how any of this actually works. I haven't used Linux or Android at all and don't really have the time or resources to go down that rabbit hole right now.
