Hello there. For awhile now I’ve been dealing with possible issues with the ABS system. When I would go slow at times, I get this grinding or buzzing noise and the brake pedal gets hard to push. When the ABS and traction control warning lights come on, it doesn’t make the noise and I could then brake without any anxiety.

I have run a code scan and the code I get is a C0036 code which says “LF wheel speed sensor circuit range/performance.” I’m tempted to pull the fuse, but do I pull the main ABS fuse or all of the ABS fuses? I do want to eventually get this fixed, but I just wanted to get some input.

What could be causing this and what advice would you give? I don’t want to be struggling with this ABS issue much longer.

It's the wheel hub, wheel hub tone ring or possibly the wiring harness. A a good shop can do a proper troubleshooting for the actual problem. Depending on mileage if at 100k plus assume it's the wheel hub if never replaced.

Can the ABS fuse be removed in the mean time?

Have the vehicle looked at as it may additional items from your post. If you pull the fuse the ABS warning light will be on, you will have additional issues with brakes locking up on wet surfaces and may require longer distances to stop.

Yeah, I’ll have to get it checked out.
