2018+ Regal: All Things Accessories

But hey, we have that overly complex pedestrian protection system that pops the hood up as standard.....
(Whisper voice: That is because it is way too costly to re-engineer a simple hood to replace that sucker.)

Fiber optic would be the way to go. That is how the existing accent lighting is executed. There is a single LED at one end of the filament. Probably wouldn't be too difficult buying the two front door assemblies and doing a little trimming to get them to fit.

The fun part would be the electrical side, especially to maintain the dimming function.

Would I have wanted it if it was an option? Absolutely. Would I now be willing to pay for it in my time and money? Nah... Guess I am a penny pincher when it comes to rear accent lighting too lol. I would like to wire up rear heated seats eventually though.
I hadn’t considered using front door assemblies in the rear doors. That’s a great idea! I’m gonna dig into the idea a bit more and see what I can come up with.

I might as well look into it now before I finish soundproofing the front doors. I have to remove the door panels anyway to change out the speakers.

I don’t think that would be too hard. It would have to be wired to a separate switch and if you really wanna do it right you’d need a switch in the rear too.

My next project will be adding massage to the front seats. I can’t wait to get that done. It’s gonna be sweet!

I really need to install a power distribution system for all these extras. I’ve got some LED light strips to install and probably three more accessories that will require power.

This is my idea… So I’ve got two more open power/ground terminals on the distribution block for my sound system. I’d like to create two circuits; one for the front and one for the rear. Each circuit needs to be able to output 12V, 5V, and 3.3V, which can be accomplished with a multi output Buck converter. You can buy fused terminal blocks with screw terminals and you’d mount one up front somewhere under the dash and one in the rear behind the carpeted trunk panels.

Once you get that all wired up, you can either add a bank of toggle switches or a single switch each time you add an accessory. It may seem a little overboard, but it sure would save a lot of work each time you need to power a new accessory.

Nope, not difficult at all. I have done this utilizing a set of aftermarket heating elements and OEM switches in my Accord. It's a very manageable project, even for anyone without much wiring experience.

It would be easy to purchase the rear center console trim piece from an Insignia, the two switches, swap parts out, and rig up the elements and wiring. (Insert comment here regarding the 🤬 bean counters not bringing the feature State-side.)

Ok now you got me thinking about it too. I’m single with no kids, so it would rarely be used.

Those damn Insignia got all the good stuff!

Did a little modifying: painted rear calipers red; rear window cf cover, steering wheel control cf cover, door window control cf cover!

Waiting on CF outdoor mirror covers for now!
Where did you get all these Carbon fiber covers???

Where is the link to this? This is dope.
I’ve seen those door handle inserts and the console tray on eBay. I plan to buy the inserts, but I ordered a different console tray from an Etsy store. I also bought the console lid cover and the cell phone pocket.

You are amazing, seriously. Have you found the door inserts already, there's just a gap in the handle of the interior.

How did you get your rims like this? You all are amazing, the link is invalid now.

Screen Shot 2022-03-13 at 2.00.16 PM.pngIm pretty sure a lot of us may be interested in this, just contacted Vauxhall about the rear shades/ curtains, have anyone purchased from them to install on a Buick Regal? If so, where and what did you buy? I believe I found the match, not 100% sure.

I was interested in something like this back when I had my Audi, but most cars since I have tinted which essentially does the same thing. But with that said I was hoping to go to a few Opel dealerships to check out things like this and see what else they offer. Unfortunately Covid has cancelled all my trips to Germany but I may be going again in a few months if the numbers stay low.

Ah, I see. I would look to tint the car, it's just the legal limit where I'm at is 35%, that's see through for the most part. Something like this seems luxurious and takes this vehicle to another level for me. A trip to Germany to visit Opel sounds amazing. Covid sure has slowed things down. I will let everyone know what they say and hopefully someone has done this already.

I tinted my TourX at 50% drivers/passenger windows & 35% rear. Did not need to go any darker & it helps a ton in the summer months.

I just read the entire thread and as well saw/replied to your post. I definitely want those shades for the bad and rear windows, may you please send the link of the one you bought. The other guy sent a link, buts that for the TourX. Im looking on eBay and I don't know which one to choose. Nice spoiler too, wonder if mine would look nice since it's a black car already.
