2019 Encore back up camera

Well this is my first post on the forum. Picked up our new 2019 TourX today. Never drove it at night and was horrified how bright the backup camera screen is. Very obnoxious bright and not safe. Spent a good hour or so reading the manual and found nothing on how to adjust the brightness. Glad to see I’m the the only one with this issue.
I contacted GM, they said nothing they could do to fix it, my dealer said he ordered a new camera, but they

Call GM and complain, more complaints maybe they will do something.

Gm replaced my backup camera today, it's no better than the old one. I am in contact with GM and they claim they will see what else they can do.

Well, that sucks but at least they are trying something. I hope this gets resolved!

Nice car, to bad you have an issue like that.

My 2019 Envision is the same that is reported here. Tech said they were all like this. My 2019 Mazda3 has a bright sharp camera image on my screen so I wonder why GM cannot do the same for our Buicks ?

My next purchase I will have a real look at the back up camera and screen and if it’s not up to par to my Mazda3 than I will not purchase another BUICK. Even my prior Honda civic and CRV had a much better camera.

I feel the same way, rediculus they can't do anything for us. I am going to see if the 2020 is better and don't know why they would not be able to replace it.

You make it sound like the end of the world without your camera!

If you bothered to read the reply it doesn’t sound like it was in the end of the world for me. Your comprehension skills are sorely lacking. Those of us that have this problem expect better of an expensive vehicle that we purchased. Specially if others of lesser cost have a better back up camera. Thanks for your mature input.

Comprehensive skills are there but your whining is a bit over board. You wouldn't purchase a vehicle if you knew the camera wasn't up to par? How about looking when you back up like we all used to do? How about reading the manual a little bit to trouble shoot the problem? There is a focus feature to clear up the picture. This reminds me of a poster who complained that his car notified him when to shift his manual transmission to the next gear. He complained that he would not have bought the car if he know there would be a shift indicator light built into the car, Lol.

All well and good poncho except for the fact that not all years have the focus or other adjustments. It's a useful feature that I agree does not reduce the need to turn one's head and look. But it should work as expected. How is that whining? Treat people good on this or any forum and they will respond when you need the help.

I will say that we have not had any of these camera issues. But this is not an expensive car. In fact for the price it's amazing well appointed and comfortable car, but not expensive.

if you can’t give a constructive reply then don’t make any replies. You were dead wrong about the end of the World comment and you should know better. Please grow up. Oh, by the way, there were others on this thread that also complained about the camera. I wasn’t the only one.

Were you not the one who said you wouldn't have bought it the car if you had known the camera was not up to par? That sounds kind of childish to me for such a little inconvenience in an otherwise excellent vehicle.

There are people who expect a high resolution rear view camera. This is nothing new. Stop arguing about it. If you're entertained by people arguing about rear view camera quality, please see the following discussion: Rear-View Camera Quality. Otherwise, there is no rule against people expressing their feelings regarding the quality of the rear view camera.

Having taken a test-drive in a 2019 Encore tonight, Yea, .. Yuck. It seemed really bad. I thought it was maybe just the pictures I was seeing. The Hyundais we test drove the other day had really good and clear cameras in similar lack of light.

Our 2016 Enclave has quite a good camera by comparison.. How come the Encore is going BACKWARDS with the camera technology? ..Hmm.

While not the 'end of the world', it's annoying. I also find it daft that you have to go to the full Essence model to get a dimming rear view mirror. My 2002 Mercury Sable has that!

You seem really keen on vehicles of Oriental extraction.. even with your "Buick" which is a Chinese import. Perhaps stick with what you know and the rest of us will be a bit more patriotic in our vehicular choices and worry less about the function of features that aren't even necessary.

What more patriotic does he have to be, he is supporting an American company!

2017 and later Encores have the updated camera and Intellilink system which is considered to be one of the better ones on the market. It is not shared with its cousin Trax and its Mylink system which is considered average. The Intellilink's camera focus is adjustable with or without lines. I have no problem seeing a wide clear picture.

So does that opinion apply to the Regal and TourX owners which both vehicles are foreign made and the now discontinued Cascada? LMAO

I am aware of where parts or vehicles come from. If you believe that supporting an American company is no better than supporting a foreign auto company than you had better think again!
