2019 Encore back up camera

My 2019 Buick Encore camera is washed out also took it to the dealer they said it is the way they all are. can not fix it.

I have two encores - a 2018 and a 2019 - one for my wife and one for my daughter in college.

If they the camera lens is clean and the lighting is good - the backup cameras work well. If it is dark or dusk - horrible.

I am going to a local place to have the camera replaced with a higher quality camera.

Someone previously mentioned that they intended to replace the camera with an "HD camera" - I don't think this is possible - I believe the receiver is expecting a non-HD format signal.

A little research shows that the camera sensor can either be CMOS or CCD. With CCD using more power but having greater light sensitivity. Probably looking at replacing the camera with a CCD - maybe with infra-red capability mode.

Does anyone have any experience with replacing their camera with one of better quality?

thanks,
jeff

Well this is my first post on the forum. Picked up our new 2019 TourX today. Never drove it at night and was horrified how bright the backup camera screen is. Very obnoxious bright and not safe. Spent a good hour or so reading the manual and found nothing on how to adjust the brightness. Glad to see I’m the the only one with this issue.
I have the same issue with my 2019 TourX camera being way too bright when it is dark out. My vehicle is white. I suspect that makes it worse because it catches so much of the vehicle's paint when displaying the backup image. The real problem is that the display is then so bright that I can barely see to use my mirrors. Thankfully my night-time backing up is mostly into a familiar garage.

My 2019 Encore back up camera has a poor image, very bright washed out image, any one else have same problem?
Yes, I have a 2017 Encore and my back up camera seems a little fuzzy/blurry. Don’t really effect my backing up but it’s annoying.

I noticed this one day after driving for some months. I found out by accident that you can adjust the light using the middle knob while in the reverse mode... of course while in your driveway and foot on brake..lol. I hope this helps. Try looking in the manual. Like I mentioned, I did it by accident.

We have two Encore's, a 2016 & a 2019. Our '19, aside from things like when it's rainy or when it gets dirty, the back up camera is great. Our '16 camera is washed out, horribly. There are no options/controls to adjust brightness or contrast like we have on our '19. Reading all the comments, I find it a very odd, how it seems some have options to adjust the camera and others do not across all model years/ trim levels. 😳

I have a 16 myself and as the other post in here I adjusted mine by using the middle knob while the car is in reverse. It is a lot better now.

With my 2022 Encore GX the number plate lights wash out the image , the dealer is going to try to reprogram the camera module to reduce the brightness , we shall see if that works ?
