Buick Ownership
2019 Regal TourX
I received a Buick sales brochure in the mail today called the Buick"B' Magazine, Fall Edition. All the 2020 Buicks are listed with photographs including the TourX and GS. Photographs were taken in and around Asheville NC. It appears that the TourX and GS will be available in 2020. Good news as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, no changes in availability for 2020. We will also see the Regal Sportback with the new ST (Sport Touring) trim.

What is everyone’s opinion on the fate of the Regal state side? I’m curious if it does stay, if the sportback and GS trim would continue or not.

If the Regal stays it will not be built in Germany and, in my opinion, the expense of setting up assembly lines elsewhere will be something GM will not do. The sad thing is that with some creative marketing and aggressive lease programs, GM could sell a load of Regals which would bring new customers to the brand. As things stand now many people don’t know that these cars exist and how they represent a much greater value than their German counterparts.

If they would actually market the thing, they can say class exclusive hatchback in a sedan body look with turbocharged powerplant and available AWD.
A lifted wagon with European inspired styling and handling would also be a sales pitch.
Sadly, it looks like they don't even want to sell the vehicles.

Meanwhile, more news about the ST trim package.

The Regal will live on since it sells well in China. GM also builds the Regal in China but with a conventional trunk. Importing from China could be an option but I don't see that happening in today's political atmosphere. So in my opinion, the Regal is done in the US after this generation. If there is a chance that it survives, I think it could continue in the US only as a TourX.

No amount of marketing will get Americans to buy the current Regal. The brand still carries the old-man brand stigma, and sedan and wagon sales are plummeting across the industry. GM has been pushing Buick advertising on digital platforms and they are doing pretty well with what Americans want - crossovers.

Sadly, even Buick's website advertise only S(YOU)V and from the looks of it, Buick is going to be left without a single car. So, I kind of question why GM does that since they have GMC already.

Simple answer,,,,,,China.

Guess that is the only reason they are keeping Buick here in North America?
Although I must say I like the Buick smoother styling better than the blocky GMC.

Just started looking at the Buick B magazine. Is the Encore GX ST Buick's "replacement" for the TourX? Sad.

Looking at that magazine a little more - seems like Buick is going to put some more stuff in their other vehicle's so TourX folks will, maybe, get what is left in Buick's lineup after TourX no longer available? Sad.

given the 2 page "TourX Owner's spread" on p 18-19 I do not have the impression the Encore has any direct impact on the Regal TourX.

WTH?
The Encore GX is like the size of a Verano in lifted suspension kit.
Who are they kidding?

Besides the GX had a 3 CYL 1.5 turbo as the top engine.

Nah they really want you to buy a loaded Envision with 2.0T and AWD. Far more profit in that made in China Buick than in a made in Germany wagon.

If GM want's me to darken the doorstep of a GMC/Buick dealer again they should make a Terrain Typhoon and include a lowered suspension to go with more power and the Regal's AWD system.

I still hold out hope that GM might want to have ONE sedan in both the Chevy and Buick lineup going forward for us dinosaurs who aren't willing to trade handling and acceleration to sit higher.

PDan, I think you're right, and like your idea on Typhoon.

Since TourX is likely over after 2020, as we know it, and the platform is similar (same?) as a Malibu, maybe Chevy could offer a TourX type vehicle,?

Aw...
Don't be silly now.
It is 1.3 L turbo 3 banger.

China can keep that Invasion.
If GM is going car-less other than Cadillac, I am giving them the middle finger and moving on.

Yes your choice of triples. 1.3 turbo CVT FWD only or 1.5 turbo 9-speed auto AWD. I just went with the bigger engine because, come on - Are we not men? :driving:
There is no 1.5 turbo on that puppy according to the source I just quoted. 😉
1.2 turbo or 1.3 turbo only.

Well I think we can all agree that "GM" and "CVT" are not concepts we want to hear in the same sentence.

sigh.
It is in the Spark and Malibu right now.

I know. The true abomination is that the "RS" Malibu is the base 1.5 turbo CVT version only. Or perhaps the greater crime is that there is a "Redline" edition of the Trax?
