I wish I could get some updates to my 2012... super lame when the girlfriend's base impreza can bluetooth stream and control from her car and my buick has to go through adapters but has bluetooth calling capability.

With other GM cars you can sometimes purchase the needed bluetooth hardware upgrade (this often isn't just a software change), if you can confirm that it will actually work with the software version you're using. I know for my Camaro it was relatively 'easy' to get this functionality (mine also did voice but no music), as I only needed to purchase and install the upgrade part, then there was one step the dealer would do for 30 minutes labor - something with programming the radio to allow the new part to be detected and utilized. Maybe start a thread to see if anyone on the forum has done this? (they may not read this one since it doesn't pertain to them)

I have this system retrofitted into my 2012.

If you dont have nav, I have my old radio which has option code UFU+UP9 (Intellilink non nav with Bluetooth Music and phone) along with the display unit, front panel controls, etc if you want a plug and play upgrade to whatever radio you have.

If you have nav and want an easy upgrade you can upgrade to a radio with option code UHQ. That is the drop in replacement for the 2013s that had nav, intellilink, bluetooth, etc.

Forgive my ignorance, what is "option code UHQ"? I have currently have nav. Not really looking to tear out my dash and pay $1k for a slightly upgraded radio from where I currently am. But if there's software updates available or if the module is relatively inexpensive and easy to install that's a different story.

I need some help understanding this.

We don't have an Android, but i want the car to have the ability in case we need it later. Did you get the dealer to update the software which how i interpreted the press release or is it something you did. And please excuse my ignorance but what is "ACDelco SPS subscription"

Yeah, I wish this was available on my 2014.

Wait so if we want bluetooth audio in a navigation equipped 2012 we just need to drop in a radio from a '13 with the option code UHQ?

Im in the process of doing this project right now. I believe that if you have a 2012 with navigation but no intelilink you should be able to drop in a radio with option code UHQ UP9 after you have it unlocked for your VIN, and have the 2013 radio, software, Nav, and Bluetooth streaming audio. I'll let you know after I get the radio back from being programmed how it works.

RPO (Retail Product Offering) is an internal SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) that GM uses to identify options and features for a given vehicle.

RPO UHQ is the 2013 radio that has Navigation + Intellilink.

I dont go to the dealer for ANYTHING

I have the same tools and software subscriptions that every GM dealer has. The one in particular you referenced is SPS (Service Programming System). It allows you to code modules to cars. BCM, radio, IPC (cluster), keys, you name it.

Yeah, I wish this was available on my 2014.

It is if you swap out your HMI NG2.0 for an HMI NG2.5.

Correct.

But this doesn't give you Android Auto or Apple Car....?

What exactly is Intellilink? I have a 2012 GS with Nav, but I dunno if it's Intellilink

The only way to support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is to have the second generation GM Global A Infotainment Platform in your car. Only the 2014+ Regal. Or you can retrofit the entire system into your 2012 like I did.

Are the 2015 Regals eligible for android auto? I thought I read somewhere they are not.

So if I acquired a HMI NG2.5 for my 2014 that doesn't currently have Nav it could be programmed to have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Nav and nothing else would be required as far as hardware goes?

It's a simple software update through SPS. My HMI did not have it when I bought it, but I updated the software and now it's available in the menus as an option.

If I were you I'd get one with nav...doesn't make sense to swap out the HMI and not add nav. The nav units also add backup camera if your car has it or not. I spliced in a cheap eBay camera to mine and it works just fine.

I was asking for entirely selfish reasons since I have a '15 with Nav. I'll ask the dealer in a month during my next service.

2015 has the NG2.0 HMI. You would need an NG2.5 HMI module for a 2015. For you however it's a direct swap. Unplug old HMI plug in new one. Program it to your car. Done.

Okay thanks, that's what I had heard but now I have a better understanding of the technical reason.

Not a big enough deal for me to spend $800 + cost to have dealer/someone program it. Good to know there's replacement options though.

Sorry to hijack, but can someone tell me what the intellilink option is, apart from Nav?
