Just tossing in my $0.02, since I used this thread as reference for picking out the General RT45s on my TourX (4k miles in). The traction is excellent, the ride is smooth, and the road noise is acceptably low. My only nit to pick is that they pull like bias plys on grooved pavement.

8/10, would buy again

Been running on Michelin CrossClimate2's for a couple of weeks now from the stock tires that were looking quite sad. So, I guess keep that in mind. However, these crossclimate2's have given me a smooth ride, way quieter road noise, and with the recent snow and ice the car handled like a dream. Honestly, I couldn't be happier!

Interesting, in July 2021 I had General Altimax (RT 43's?) put on at about 27k mi. Our TourX now has about 62k mi. on it. I'd say the tires were good as noted by Gearbeer, but it's probably about time to replace them.

I use them in the winter too. They're still good, even recently passed a NY State inspection. But up front, they're not as grippy as they used to be for turning this vehicle.

It is my turn to start looking at a new set of rubbers.
Even though I barely have any miles on these OEM tires, thanks to the work from home situation during the pandemic. They are getting close to 8 years old by now. The up side is that the vehicle has always been garage kept at home, but it is not climate controlled. So they are still 8 years old tires without being sun tanned.

Hence just read through all 26 pages of discussion.
Some highly rated tires are no longer available, and we have some newer tires came to the market recently.

My must have for the tires are non-unidirectional so that they can be rotated from left side to right side of the vehicle.
The tires shall not be all terrain since my wagon is not going offroad.
The tires must also have 3PMSF on them. These OEM contisilent tires are junk in just 2 inches of unplowed subdivisions.
Lastly, the speed rating shall be the same if not better than the OEM ones. In this case, we had V rated tires from the factory (not that I would drive anywhere close to that speed though, but for comparison purposes, that would be the baseline).

Did my homework between Tire Rack and Discount Tire based on consumer ratings and best sellers, and the top one on Tire Rack is Vredestein QUATRAC PRO+ ($214.77) , followed by Cooper Discoverer ENDURAMAX ($216.99) and General ALTIMAX 365 AW ($198.99). Sadly, Tire Rack does not have 4 of the Cooper tires in stock.
Meanwhile, the top ones on Discount tires with ratings are Bridgestone WEATHERPEAK ($235), followed by Falken AKLIMATE ($214), the General ($199) and Cooper ($217).

And then there are the dark horses at Discount Tire by Nokian, the Solstice 4 ($209) and the REMEDY WRG5 ($255).
I know for a fact that Nokian is great at making winter tires, so that gives them high points in my mind and the Solstice 4 is essentially the WRG4 renamed.

Tire Rack is aquired by Discount Tire a few years ago, that makes it easier to buy from them and have the tires shipped to Discount Tire for installation as there are plenty of stores around here.

Still need to do more homework to narrow down the choices while there are still snow on the ground to play with.

Understood. That was a concern of mine initially but I took a chance anyway with the CC2's.

The CC2's unidirectional wear has been spectacular after 51k miles on my vehicle. They still have loads of tread left and are wearing evenly.

BTW- Nice write-up above.

While tire manufacturers recommend replacing tires every 6 years regardless of mileage, I have always run them 10 years with no issues.
My car is always garaged and doesn't get a lot of sun exposure.
My 2018 (purchased 3/30/19) has just over 33,000 miles on it so I'm not likely to wear out the tires even after 10 years but I will replace them in 2029 non-the-less.

Pls let us know which tires you end-up with and how they are in wet snow - TIA.

We had "all-season" Nokians on another vehicle that only ran around town (western NY), they were fine in the snow. On our TourX, we'll probably replace the tires before next snow season. Fortunately, not a lot of UV's here.

The miles on mine are less than 1/5 of yours now. So buying new tires to replace them is a tough pill to swallow, knowing that I am contributing to create more waste to the planet and harming future generations. 🙁
The tires are good for between 6 to 10 years and shall always be replaced by 10 years as a rule of thumb. So at 8 years now, I am kinda torn in between.

One of the factors that made me start looking is that the price are just gonna go up and our pay checks will never catch up with inflation. 😅

Meanwhile, the list is narrowing down though. Please keep in mind that I am being the yardstick to measure my own use case so anyone else's criteria are gonna be different. Any tires that I did not pick does not mean they are bad by any means and may fit your use case.
The Falken was the first to go after reading the test comparison results which was little surprising when considering that they make ultra high performance tires.

On the other hand, the Vredestein and Nokian are the top contenders at the moment. Still need to check with the local Discount Tire store to see.

Dang it...! :bangtard:

Went to the local Discount Tire store to check out the tires. (Already leaning towards the Remedy WRG5 considering the Kevlar sidewall plus 1 year pothole warranty.)

Absolutely fantastic staffs who were willing to stand in my shoes (yeah, not literally).
Checked the tires seeing no cracks or obvious sign of degradation. Told me that I have at least a year of life on those if not more and come back later to them when it is time instead of trying to make a quick buck out of me.

This is real customer service looking for the long term!
Sorry folks, cannot be of service of the community yet. 🥲
