biggest complaint about your LaCrosse

Well I checked in the trunk and nothing is loose. The rattle is definitely coming from the right rear of the car. It sounds like a loose shock or an exhaust pipe banging. I sure hope they find the issue real soon.

My 2012 Buick Lacrosse jerks hard when shifting down at about 30mph

Rough Ride. Long time Buick driver having had 5 Lesabres, 2 Park Avenues, and a Regal. Put well over a million miles on the Buicks and all were a pleasure to drive every one better than the last until the Lacrosse. In my opinion the suspension technology hasn't kept up with the move to oversized aluminum wheels and short sidewalled tires. I like to buy a loaded car, but when you get to higher trim levels, the aluminum wheels get bigger, the tire sidewalls get shorter, and the ride gets rougher. This goes for pretty much every new car, not just Buick.

No spare tire on EAssist models.

No place to put a floor jack. Lesabres & Park Avenues have a solid subframe where you can lift the car to work on it. I would think they could design in a solid lift point someplace besides the pinchweld where you could lift the car without damaging it.

Poor visibility. Between the front A Pillars, low seating position, and the small back window, it is hard to see out of these cars.

Depreciation. Take your late model Lacrosse back and see what they offer on trade in. Plan to lose 40% after 1100 miles. I bought a used 2016 with 1100 miles at an estate sale and was able to sell it private party for what I paid for it, but I was amazed at how little the dealers offered in trade. I guess the upside of this is that if you like a Lacrosse, you can buy a used one pretty reasonable.

When my 03 Park Ave wears out, I will be looking online for a used 2000 to 2005 Buick Lesabre or Park Avenue from a southern state where the road aren't salted. Should be able to buy a decent car for 1/4 the price of a new one. Screw the car companies and their rough riding new cars.

The low profile profile tires and big rims are such a touchy subject. I own a 2001 Buick Park Avenue and a 2010 Buick LaCrosse.Obviously, the bumps in the road are much more smoothed out on the older Park Avenue. The 2010 LaCrosse with the the 18 inch chrome rims (I heard the added weight of the chroming process doesn't help) with 18 inch Michelin Pilots with a relatively narrow sidewall and the tires are pretty stiff with a V speed rating. At 100,000 mainly highway miles. I changed the rear shocks with Monroes, but not the front MacPherson struts yet. The fronts are not leaking, and when I go slowly over a bump, the front and rear seems to sound and feel the same upon impact. I notices when I speed it up, it handles bumps much better than goings over them slowly. I wonder if changing the front struts will ease up the bumpy ride, or is it mainly the tires and 18 inch rims? The problem with all the 3.8 engines in the early 2000 Park Avenues is thst darn plastic gasket that melts in their engines separating the oil from the coolant. Better make sure that has been done in any replacement .Park Avenue(about $800 repair). But oh, what a sweet ride! Got a new gadget magazine for Christmas, with pictures of some nice cars in it. 85% of them has 19-20 inch low profile rims and tires. Sure enough. feeling every bump was a big complaint in reviews for every one of them. After test driving the new 2017 Lacrosses, the 18 inch drive was relatively nice, while the $50,000 top of the line one with 20 inch rims was not nice at all.

My 2012 Lacrosse also has the thickest B Pillars and C pillars making visibility my #one complaint. Driving this car in the city is a burden due to lack of visibility. The highway is what this car does best.

My biggest complaint is
1.NO CD player
2. this 8 speed trans shift to hard for me.

Just picked up my first Buick since 1976. Traded a 2008 Cadillac DTS Luxury II for a 2014 LaCrosse Premium. 3-1/2 hour drive home. Very pleased so far until it got dark on 2 lane roads. I guess I was very spoiled with the Cadillac HID headlights and fog lights. Shame on me, I looked at several Buicks and "ass-umed" the Premium had fog lights. Sooooo disappointed it does not have fog lights. I drive a lot of dark 2 lane roads. How can Buick sell a $40,000 luxury sedan and not have fog lights standard???

The mirrors on the 2012 LaX are aweful and make visibility very difficult. I have almost hit pedestrians at least five times (twice, the first week I had the car).

After owning nothing but Buicks since 1993 I am disappointed in the Lacrosse for many reasons. I guess I was spoiled with my earlier ones. My first Buicks were a 91 Park ave the a 93 Ultra then a 98. Then moved to the new Lesabres and next was a Lucerne and finally a Lecrosse. They have gotten smaller and far less comfortable and less head and leg room and visibility. The best thing about the Lecrosse is the looks. My knees are crammed against the door panel and console, The cheap chrome interior trim is peeling off the passanger door handle and around the console, the dash squeeked ( had to fix myself) there is no console storage, the two accessory plugs are only inches apart (one inside the console the other in the back of the console making my GPS impossible to plug in and fasten to the windshield without an extention, the back seat can only fit two people comfortably, if you put a childs car seat in the rear you need to put part of it in the raised edge of the seat in order to fasten the seat belt because the car seat is wider than the seating area, there is no trunk release button or rain sensitive wipers, The leather quality is FAR inferrior to the older ones and now with 49,000 miles my trunk opens regularly with my keyless start transmitter sitting on my kitchen counter. it happens several times a day. Some times when I close it it pops right back open. I called Buick and they lied to me and told me there is no recall or service bulletin on it. I gave him the service bulletin number (PI 0185C) and he said thats only for dealers to help them diagnose the problem. So they diagnose a problem they don't have. This will be my last Buick.

Love the 2016 leather. Only problem is the Home-Link system. It will close the garage door but only opens the door about 25% of the time. Dealer says there is a bulletin about it an has ordered parts for it. We'll see!!

My only real complain on my 2017 LaCrosse is the shifter. And I don't even hate the shifter, itself. I actually like it, except for one little detail: It's very easy to accidentally get the thing into "Manual" mode and not realize it. Then you start to drive off and the engine starts to rev up really high without shifting while you're in traffic. Dammit! Then you have to use the "floppy-paddle" shifter things until you can get to a point that you can come to a complete stop to put the thing into park (or neutral) and then back into "Drive."

I thought the same thing until I realized all you need to do , when you are in manual mode, is pull the shift back and it will go back into drive. Counterintuitive since you would think to push forward to go back to drive.

I love my old 2007 LaCrosse for the most part.

Since I put Pirelli Cinturato P7s on it, it has been the smoothest, quietest car I've had since the old days when "personal luxury cars" were built mostly to give cushy rides and luxury accommodations, but not-so-good cornering or handling (I think of my beloved Continentalesque 1982 Celica which rode like a cloud, had soft bucket seats, and had a breathtaking 7-band equalizer stereo sound system...but cornered like a drunken cow).1982 Celica ST.webp

My Buick's stiffer but far more secure-feeling ride accepted, the few things I don't like so much about my LaCrosse:

1. The front seats are really too firm and feel increasingly uncomfortable during long trips. But I do have the standard "mouse fur" seats. (The positive here is that they have retained their "like-new" condition for all these years - yeah, granite wears much better than feathers.)

2. The 22" wipers tend to start squeaking at the edges (very irritably) far too soon after replacement (I suppose because of the curvature they have when not in use). I've started using 21" replacement wipers and the squeaking problem has diminished.

3. The outside air intake for the cabin is a terrible debris trap that is difficult to clean out.

4. The front of my '07 is Jaquar-like beautiful, but the rear end looks like a "tarted up" Taurus of the same year.

5. This car is the most "user unfriendly" I've ever owned in regards to simple replacements and repairs. Just replacing a headlight bulb is an unbelievably complex ordeal.

6. My experience with my area's official Buick dealerships has been extremely disappointing.

But I must admit that my '07 LaCrosse still looks like new and runs quietly and dependably - thanks to local independent auto maintenance.
