Broken shift button

Good to know ! I searched for a video on replacing the knob. Found one on YouTube for the Opel Insignia. Please let me know if its the same procedure for the Regal, here is the link

Thanks
Great video. Don't try some other solutions that involve breaking parts.

I'm having the same issue. Mine tab broke off yesterday and now my horn isn't making any noise and my lights aren't turning off automatically. In the video the shifter has the button on it. What do I do if mine does not have on?

Will this work for a 2014 Buick Verrano? Same problem.

Thank you for all the above advice. My shifter button broke on my Verano this weekend. I've got it cobbled together with tape so nothing falls out and I can still shift. The only video specific to the Verano that I could find on youTube was a 2-parter and the guy broke the collar in the process. That Opel instructional video seems like it should work.

Button just broke on 2013 Buick Regal T. Repaired it temporarily per below, and purchased this item from Amazon to keep as a ready replacement.
  • Removed the shift knob per the excellent video posted earlier (page 1?)
  • Learned that the rear-facing black cover can be removed. Near the top of the knob, use a guitar pick or spudger to release the cover; it move "upward" to release - toward the roof of the car.
  • Discovered that the two green pivot arms from the silver button (part # 112102456) had broken off.
  • Temporarily reattached the green arms to the main body using PVC cement (MEK "primer" plus the thicker cement.
  • Reinforced the joints using Shoe Goo by smearing around the base. Allowed to cure/harden over night.
  • Reinstalled silver button into the assembly and, using two small screwdrivers, *very* carefully pushed the green pivot arms into their respective pivot holes.
  • To help secure the arms in the pivot holes, I snipped a small plastic cylindrical concrete anchor (yellow in the photos) to fit between the pivot arms to keep them in the pivot holes. DISREGARD the exact location in the photos; I had to push the yellow plastic down toward the base of the pivot arms so the latch for the black cap could clear and catch.
Sufficient repair for now, and now that I know how to remove the knob, I can replace it in ~3 minutes if it breaks again. Good luck, everyone!

PS: If anyone can recommend a back-up camera for the 2013 Regal that will integrate with the in-dash display (entertainment center), please message me. The one feature I wish this model had is a back-up camera, but I do not want a separate screen/monitor.

Just replaced this on my 2014 turbo with a $10 shifter knob from China bought on eBay. Works great and is a lot cheaper than the $100+ oem replacement. Same thing happened, little silver piece broke off.

Link to shifter. I negotiated down to$10:

I have a 2013 Buick Verano and this just happened to my car. Both pieces came off and I don’t know what it would cost for dealer fix. I can’t afford any more repairs because I just paid 1,900.00 to fix other issues in February. What do you think it would cost to get the dealer to fix this? I need to know before I take it in. I know they charge a fee to check

If its the same as the Regal, Amazon has one for $15. Easy to swap out.

Oh lord I wish I saw this video before I went hulk mode on my broken shift knob. It was 95 degrees and I had limited time to fix it.
I bought the replacement shift knob on Amazon for $15 and it smelled like lacquer and felt a little cheap, but it did the job just fine.

The odd issue I had ended up being the zip tie. The zip ties I had laying around the garage were too wide by about .1cm to fit in the groove properly while affixing the leather back to the knob. I ran out and bought some narrower zip ties that fit the groove, so the leather stopped slipping off. Could have been that I didnt have the car in neutral when I was putting the plate back on and it was forcing the leather down too much I suppose.

Thank you so much for this post, same thing happened to my 2013 Buick Verano - it wouldn't go into park took it to shop they said they got it in park fine, then I found the button was wiggling around! I had everything I needed already to fix it! yay!

The silver piece that you press on the shifter broke off and the piece behind it came out as well. I managed to get the small piece back in and wrapped some blue tape around the shift so it won't fall out. I can shift it but the small piece gets stuck sometimes and stays depressed. My wife will bring it to the dealer tomorrow and hopefully they will have it in stock. Has anyone replaced it themselves ? I searched online for the part number and found 2 , #13473331 and #23459424. Both say it fits 2014 Regal GS.
Was it hard to get back in

It wasn't hard putting that piece back in and putting blue tape temporarily until I got a replacement.
If yours is broke your better off replacing the whole thing, not too hard to replace.

Anyone have a video or instructions for replacing the boot and shift knob on a manual?

They also sell the replacement parts to fix the OEM knob for $4.85 shipped

I purchased the metal version of this repair kit from AliExpress. Unfortunately, there were no installation instructions. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Not sure how to proceed without making a bad situation worse. Thanks.

This is very late to the discussion but does anyone know how I can get the shifter knob off of a 2012 verano if the whole button broke and won’t shift out of drive/neutral?
