Recentley my check engine light came on in my lacrosse while i was driving on the freeway. I thought maybe it was bad gas but since the lights been on ive filled my tank all the way up and nowits at half a tank and the lights still on. Any one else have a problem like this? I plan on taking it in very soon

Ive also noticed some rough shifting when in rush hour traffic.

Take the car to Autozone. They'll scan and read the codes for free. They'll even give you a print out. Disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes usually clears the code.

Federal law requires new vehicles to be under warranty for emision related features for five years or 100,000 miles. So, yes, your vehicle is under warranty for this problem -- unless you are a very long distance driver.

I would have to agree that your best bet would be to have this diagnosed by your local dealer. Please keep me posted and feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you.

My Lacrosse has been in service 3 times (every 7 days) in the last 21 days to replace the fuel purge solenoid, seems to be a GM parts issue. The car is 3 months old with 3k miles.

I've had check engine lights come on randomly with "no codes" associated in my 2010 CXS. However, last February I had check engine light and DIC warnings about "reduced engine performance" that quickly morphed into my second towing in less than 12 mo's. I'd make a pit stop at the dealer even though it may only be a false alarm.

A check engine light could be ANY number of things out of tolerance. Take it to a dealer as recommended to have it scanned and determined exactly what the error code is telling you. In some cases the error code can point to the exact problem and in other case it require chart diagnosis that takes some knowledge of interaction between systems. If you are lucky it could be as simple as a gas cap valve leaking or something much more serious. Good luck.

good l;uck

I would like to look into this for you. Please contact me privately with more information including the last eight of your VIN and your dealer name. It would also be helpful to include your current mileage, contact information, and name. Thank you.

I had a check engine light come on last week. Disconnected the battery for a half an hour, restarted it and the light went out. The car had sat for a week and my guess is it picked up a misfire when I started it and tripped the light.

Why the towing - did the engine fail to start/run? What ended up being the problem?

I have been towed twice in this car, the first within the first 3 months of ownership, without warning the car died at a stop light. All electronics were operating but the engine turned itself off and would not restart or even act like it would restart; allegedly some mysterious wire behind the dash came loose. The second occasion I reference in the post was preceded by more than a couple check engine light episodes that the dealer could not diagnose. Then I got the DIC power warnings (with the light), the first time with no notable change in performance, the second time very noticeable reduction of power to the point the car died and would not start. This time the dealer found a wiring harness in the trunk that they believe the insulation wore through due to friction from a small tool bag I keep back there rubbing on it through the floor liner to the point it shorted out some critical system. They fixed it and it's been fine since but it would seem like a design flaw. I don't carry much in my trunk compared to some people I know who have cinder blocks, dead bodies, etc. in theirs. Anyway, I've had no further episodes but my trust in my car is ruined and I plan to trade it in next year. I've also had numerous other electronic problems (most notably the radio/nav issue that's well documented).

My 2013 Buick Encore engine light came on x2 at 39K and 41K miles; engine is being rebuilt.

Disconnect the battery cable for 30 minutes. It works for me.

Hello,
Sometimes my 2010 Buick Lacrosse CXL rpm goes up to 4 and past that if I keep the acceleration when it goes past 20mph and seems to act like it slipped. When I completely stop the car and try again it runs and shifts normally. I have had a mechanic test drive it with so me I could tell him exactly how and when it happens and he didnt seem to think it was the transmission. Now my check engine light is on. Anybody have any ideas what it could be?
