Good to know! I'd hate to take sales from you guys, I've ordered all my regal mods through you besides the new BOV.

If anyone is interested:

We've got these back in stock! A bunch of them this time so we don't sell out instantly.

Finally, as the originator of this thread, installed my gear shift shortener from BNR last evening. As identified by others, excellent investment. Nice crisp, short shifts. Should have been like this from the factory, eh?!
Also, great 'how to' by "jmbneaf" and his blog @ http://blog.jimsjump.com.
One question for those who installed the kit, including Jim: any interference with the original clip? The c-clip supplied with the kit is rather flimsy, not sure of the need for it?
Thanks! Original C-Clip still holding for me!

This is the 2nd Best upgrade I've done on my car, being second only to the Trifecta Tune that is...

Just placed the order for this Short Shifter. Looking forward to it!!

I just installed the Shifter. Not to bad about 25 minutes. Haven't driven the car yet, but the initial shifter feel is better.

can somebody post a vid of them driving around with the short shifter?

just put this shifter in my car from bad news racing...i didnt take the battery out. The dust cover was a bit of a pain but the biggest problem was i dropped one of the pin bushings and it took me forever to find it lol. Definatly a much more improved driving experience..firms up the shifts a bit and a much more positive feel. Car should come stock this way..i still wouldnt call it a short throw but it is much better.

After reading this thread, I ordered this for my wife to give to me for Christmas (it was between that and socks) 🙂

I installed the shifter and definitely like it--an improvement over the stock shifter. Installation was somewhat entertaining--for those like me that occasionally "drop" tools, I recommend at least disconnecting the battery. --yes, there is a story behind that-at least the ignition coil was there to catch my metal needle nose pliers.

One thing I am finding is shifting through gears takes a bit more effort than before. I greased the new shifter, as recommended, but it still feels like it needs more grease ?? I don't know if it is just the cold weather, or if I should take it back apart and re-grease...(though my guess is that it won't help, as the gates to the gears are inside the tranny -- has someone drained/filled the tranny to help?)

Thoughts?

Winter time cold shifter.... The mod has a more defined shift, but winter plays a role. Not really sure why but i read it on the cobalt forum

Thanks Kranz. That does make sense. I will see how it feels when (if) it ever warms up.

I'm considering adding one of these and it would be great to hear back from any users who have it installed already. Still feel as tho this mod was worth it? Does it take more effort to shift? Is this mod annoying in winter? I'm mostly looking for th negatives as the positives have been pointed out in this thread. Any input would be appreciated.

negatives- first gear can be a pain to get into sometimes- thats about it

I just found and purchased the correct one for my '14 GS LTG F40.

With or without the shift shortener installed, in cold weather close to or below freezing, the gearbox on the GS definitely has clunkier feel to it.
Yessir....or until it warms up

I couldn't find the correct short shifter (in North America) for my 2014 GS with the "updated" F40 transmission, so I ordered directly from MTech. I paid an extra €35,95 (doll-hairs) to get it shipped in a box rather than a bubble bag... Heavy chunks of metal in a bag get pretty beat up in transit. Plus MTech takes a notable hit by accepting foreign PayPal. Shipping took almost 2 weeks, but the shifter arrived in excellent condition with an extra garage cabinet/fridge/toolbox sticker.

i took the plunge and ordered this. bought it off of zzp. fingers crossed that i like this over stock!

You will not be disappointed, however, this will not change the cold 1-2 shift clunk & grind as mentioned by others. I've switched to Red Line MTL 75W80 in an effort to smooth out the cold shifting, but to little effect. It shortens the time to smooth shift, that about all.

just wanted to give a shout out to jmbneaf.... just installed my short shifter and it was a breeze thanks to his tutorial... thanks bro appreciate it!
