GM performance parts Regal Stage Kit 2012-2013

Just wanted to share with everyone that if you purchase the kit and get your flash, and then decide you want more power and order a TRIFECTA calibration package, we have the means to make the Stock side your GMS power profile. So, instead of switching back and forth between Stock and Performance modes with Select A Tune, you'd be switching back and forth between the GMS1 and Performance modes instead.

Also, your option to flash back to factory Stock profile will be the GMS1 flash instead 🙂

Has Select-A-Tune been made available for the 2013's yet?

Thats great news and thanks for the quick response, looking forward to checking both out!

i believe that when you purchase a trifecta tune you have the ability to switch the tune on/off via the cruise control button.

What wot-tuning is saying, is that you can get the GMS1 tune and the trifecta tune, and have them on the car at the same time. Meaning that when you switch the trifecta tune off, you'll then be running the GMS1 tune, instead of the original factory stock tune.

what they are also saying is that when you take your car in for service you can flash back to just the GMS1 tune, not the original factory tune, because a GM service center will have your car on the books as having the GMS1 tune not the original tune, so everything will be on the up and up.

Basically means we can have the best of both worlds

That's pretty cool trifecta can do that. I just got my 2013 gs and I'm itching to tune it already. I wanted to be patient and wait for some more reviews on the gm stage kit before I made my decision to either do trifecta or gm. Gm maintains warranty which is enticing but trifecta provides more power. And to be honest I don't see any reason to pay close to $800 with installation and then turn around and pay $400 for trifecta. One of the guys here that works for a dealer said he couldn't see the trifecta tune in the ecm database so that entices me to just do trifecta and not waste money on the gms since it's basically just an Cai cause their ecm program is weak compared toTrifecta. Am I missing something here and any suggestions if I should just do trifecta and call it a night. Or wait for some more reviews on the gms first.

Looks like a few others have purchased this kit. I would at least wait and see their reviews. My personal opinion is that although the car seems to pull a little harder in the mid range with the Trifecta tune, I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money. I never buy anything online from a place that doesn't list their contact info on their website. I chose to purchase the Trifecta anyways from a 3rd party vendor, against my better judgement. It took almost 3 weeks to get the tune emailed to me. After installing the tune I consistently had a check engine light and a P2261 code. After 3 days of attempting to contact them, they would not return emails I was finally able to contact them by phone, I was told that I had a bad Bypass valve, so I purchased the Forge bypass valve and installed. I still had the code setting and was unable to get it resolved

Did you try clearing the code with ez flash

Contact trifecta directly, forget the third party

I agree forget the 3rd party. since i got my gs ive been doing extensive research on tunes. i contacted trifecta directly with all my questions and they responded immediately and from the responses ive seen across many forums everyone is usually very satisfied with their response time and service quality. i was just going to purchase the tune directly from them since its the same price and im pretty sure you get it in 48 hours instead of 3 weeks like you waited. lots of gs owners have the trifecta tune and i havent seen many check engine light issues like your experiencing. let us know if you get it cleared and how you did it. One member said to clear it with the ez flash. im not quite sure what that means but i hope it works.

on a side note, how did you like the forge bpv?

Ok, I finally got to go for a drive and here is my review. Compared to stock tune it pulls a little harder through the mid rpm range, not much if any difference in max power, the turbo seems to come in a little quicker and after viewing the calibrations it appears that only minor changes are made in the max boost tables in the mid rpm range which improves driveability where these cars always feel a little jerky. And some changes in the MAF table to account for the changes in the CAI, and some changes for the underboost/overboost diagnostics. With the CAI and GM tune it is not as responsive in the mid range as it was with the Trifecta tune. The biggest difference I notice is that before if I was cruising around 40 mph in 6th gear and wanted to accelerate I would have to downshift, now it will actually pull reasonably well. I believe that has to do with the CAI ability to flow better at low air mass. The CAI is by far the best looking available, it fits great, easy to install. The tune and CAI give the car a little more pep and noise, but after having the Trifecta tune, the GM tune leaves a little to be desired. GM advertises the kit as a 20 hp increase (7%) on the GS and a 50 hp increase (23%) on the regal T, so if you are upgrading a regal T from stock you should notice a huge performance increase. This kit is 100% GM so there will never be any questions of warranty issues. Make sure you have your dealer "I route" your repair order for proper warranty documentation if you decide to get this kit. One other point I would like to make is that it has been stated that the Trifecta tune is hidden in the ecm and from what I saw when I checked my calibration ids and CVNs with the trifecta tune installed appears to be true. let me know if anyone has any questions

this is very helpful information. im torn right now between the gm stage kit and trifecta. i just bought a 2013 gs with only 14k miles and it was a certified pre owned so its under full warranty still even the bumper to bumper. so i was really curious if the trifecta tune was really invisible to the dealer. trifecta stood by this claim and its good to know after you checked you couldnt see the trifecta tune on your car. since my car is under all the warranties i was really concerned about putting the trifecta tune on my gs which is why i was leaning towards the gm stage kit. but the gains on the stage kit left a little to be desired so in the performance dept it seems like trifecta wins out over the gm stage kit. in your opinion what should i do. what would you do in my shoes. thanks in advance

I also have a CPO GS. Im at about 50k miles now. If I do a tune, Ill be doing the GM tune. 1) Warranty. 2) Resale value... if I sell to someone privately, being able to say 'this is a factory part, installed by the manufacturer, with warranty" is a lot better than "This is a trifecta tune, it puts out... Oh theyre a company, they make stuff, anyhow... it puts out... huh? No, theres no warranty on it, but plenty of people have the tune.. anyhow... Oh, okay youre not interested. Damn"

i understand your point. i went to the dealer today and of course they couldnt find the part nor could they even quote out service time. He said he had the most current catalog too and still had nothing. So its hard to buy the gm stage kit when all the dealers in my area have no idea what im talking about. The other thing is that if they want to charge 3 hours of labor your easily looking at $300 in labor to install a cai and flash the ecu. That just seems like a lot of money for such a simple process. Combine that with the underwhelming review that was posted here from the few people who have had it done just doesnt entice me. Youre looking at spending close to $900 after parts and labor for a small difference in performance. Then when you look at all the trifecta reviews its not even close, but again youre not getting the warranty. In life everything has a payoff

I would be surprised if someone would want to buy your car and be upset about the tune. This is a performance car! Everyone I talk to about cars asks me if I have it tuned. The 2.0L is the perfect engine for the tune because it changes the vehicle dramatically.

If someone is upset remove the tune and it is there loss.. I had my buddy drive my GS without the tune and with the tune. He ended up buying a GS about 6 months later and bought trifecta tune.

totally, I'm getting the GM stage kit primarily for the CAI, it just so happens to be cheaper when you buy it with the tune so what the hey

UPS dropped off my GM kit today... instal and flash happening saturday afternoon... curious to hear what it'll sound like
