Has anyone replace their Tourx wheels?

My guess is Awd cars will have the J17 brakes and fwd will be J60...

I couldn't understand the reference of 16 & 17 at gmpartsdirect. At first I thought 17 was short for J17. I am guessing those numbers refer to the minimum diameter rim that will clear them...

Does this mean that all TourX come with J17 brakes and therefore cannot mount 16" rims on the front?

& if that's the case, would the Regal FWD model (J60) calipers & rotors bolt up onto the TourX knuckle & hub?

I would see if you can buy a cheap used wheel in 5x114.3 to slide over the studs to check clearance.
 
I thought the Regal wheels are 5 x115?
I don't actually own a TourX yet, but am shopping

They are 5x115. But a 5x114.3 will fit for mocking up since you're checking caliper clearance
i have the 16" 5x115 rims, run on a couple '90's Park Aves we had.

Just need the car...

What is the reason for wanting to go to 16" wheels? Just thinking any cost savings from going smaller would be lost converting the front brakes and carrier over (if possible) and you'd lose the performance benefits of the larger setup.

Basically i'm just weighing the options while shopping for our 1st TourX. It's not likely i'd immediately jump to mounting 16" rims and you're absolutely right about performance.
I've been reading here and at parts suppliers and was confused about the 16/17 references - at first i thought the implication was that these cars run 17" rims on the front & 16" on the rear, which didn't make much sense to me, but thanks to all the input here i think i understand the setup and was asking for verification of what i think i understand now. I've been through the scenario before with wheels that bolt on to various older GM models but don't clear the calipers, so i get that. It looks like all the Sportback, TourX, '17-'19 LaCrosse & '16-'21 Malibu all run on the same steering knuckle, so the calipers should bolt right up 🤔
This would be a big investment for us, so i want to know ahead what all we'd be getting into. I've been doing my own maintenance for decades and like to get as full an understanding of what i'll be working on as possible before diving in.

Anyways, to answer your question, i just like these rims on a Buick.

I ran 17' rims (5x115) for my winter set, they'll fit and tires are less expensive.
 
Just ordered 20" rims 5x115 8.5" width with +20 offset. Tires will be 255/35r20. I'll post results/pics in about a week when they arrive.
 
I think the cascada (that convertible thing) rims are pretty sweet looking and would look good on a Tourx. I think they are the same size too
 
I was in the exact same boat (but looking at OE 20"s as well). I just couldn't justify the more spending and complication. I finally gave in and bought some 18" wheels and will just use them for winter.

When I did mine, I popped those out and used a small piece of window tint on them . Came out pretty good and is holding up better than I expected.

The shop that tinted my windows used a 3M smoke film on them. It is different than the window tint material.
 
Replaced my factory wheels with Platinum Atonement (18 x8). Used OEM tires as I still have some tread left on them.

What is the widest tires I can use on the factory wheels?
I was thinking a 255/45/18 might fit the bill.
Anyone ?
 
The baddest wagons I ever owned were all three of the 149 1991 Audi 200 Turbo Quattro Wagons that were imported into the US. Only available with 5 speeds and loaded (for their day) with the only choices being exterior and interior color and "Sport" or "Comfort" seats in the front. Car and Driver said that if Lamborghini made a wagon, this would be it. Audi was still recovering in the US at the time and these came in at a cool $41K in 1991. There just wasn't a lot of demand for speedy wagons with sticks, turbos, and sodium filled valves at over $40g's at the time (about $77K adjusted for 2018). One unique feature were the ultra light 15 inch BBS factory wheels which were there to reduce unsprung weight but that also carried a "comfortable" sidewall for that "Oh so lovely ride." In order to get sufficient braking the calipers were installed around the center of the brake rotors which were "affectionately" known as UFO's for their odd looking design. Unfortunately, if you can find them, a set of these rotors (two) will run you a cool grand or more and parts for these cars are so hard to find I finally gave up my last 200TQW a couple of months ago. Here's a quick tutorial on some automotive history.... and a photo of my last one, not a bad looking rig for a 27 year old car. It would pull sub 15 sec quarter miles at my local drag strip on street nights without even beating on it, although it was chipped (chip by a company called "Intended Acceleration" ;-) ) Also, as an aside, a used set of these rotors make an excellent mooring for a 17' Glastron in fresh water.
