Looking at a 2009 Lacrosse CXL

I wish I could afford the 3.6, but I have no issues with the power I get from the 3800. The first week and a half I had the car I drove like my grandma. Today I was flying down the interstate like a mad man. I just got back from the 3D Star Wars movie (save your money, looked like I was at home watching it on a CRT television) and at a stop light some cocky lookin kid in a honda pulled up and revved his ricer. Soon as the light turned green I floored it and spun tires with traction control on. Felt preety good.

I considered a 3.6 car. Then when I joined this site I read of the gas mileage concerns. I am going to keep my 3800 a while longer and see what options Buick is coming out with. Especially when regular gas (all a 3800 needs) is supposed to top $4 a gallon this Summer.

Anyone else have problems with torque-steer? I've noticed if I punch it in the merge lane that car tends to want to steer sharply to the left.

Another quick question, does anyone know if the 09 Lacrosse comes with a rust-proof coating on the undercarraige? DOT went apeshit this weekend and put down 1/8" of salt on all the roads for a very mild 3 hour snow storm.

Yes there is a coating but i would still give it a good rinse with the hose.

Very little, if any. I was expecting it to be a lot worse but it's nothing to be alarmed about.

No rustproofing on my car. Just aluminum engine cradle and painted underside. Front and rear wheel wells are molded plastic.

Yeah, I was surprised when I test drove the Super. I punched it on the interstate on-ramp doing about 30 and took it up to around 80 and had no torque steer issues what-so-ever.

Re: Looking at a 2009 Lacrosse CX

Can someone recommend a good rubber floor mat for the 06-09 Lacrosse? I left work on my lunch break to pick up the service manual this past Friday. It looks like the floor mat I got from wal-mart isn't worth a crap. Brown stains on the carpet floor mat, it believe its oil. 😡

I bought some door sills from these folks a few weeks ago, everything worked out great. They appear to have oem rubber mats. Seems to be just the fronts though... http://www.ebay.com/itm/230750588376

I also was searching the internet last night and found out the 4T65E HD transmission used in the Impala and Monte Carlo SS, Pontiac GXP, and Lacrosse Super was rated for 280 ft lbs of torque while the 5.3L LS4 kicks out 323 ft lbs of torque, and the transmissions are failing like crazy on those models.

Im sure by now you have made your decision on a new car, but thought I would put out there my 2 cents for any other perspecitve buyers. I recently purchased an 08 LaCrosse Super and Im getting ready to take it back into the dealership for the 3rd time because of transmission issues. The tech at the dealership said exactly what you were saying, that the engine puts out more power than the transmission is designed to handle.
