My GS exhaust project

I see in the install photos straight pipe was installed to replace the stock mufflers. How did you finish off the tips? Or did I miss something?

Cut out the stock mufflers and removed the tips to be welded to the new pipe running from the y-pipe to the bumper.

The exhaust shop that did my exhaust did exactly the same thing with the tips for mine.

You can hear the turbo spool up and release quite nicely. There is surprisingly little drone.

Looks like you need to do a little plasti dip on those exhaust ports(check it out).

Did you ever put the carbon fiber inserts in for the GS?

Thanks, and Yes I have the CF GS inserts. Some of my car buddies actually noticed it (up close haha) But I will consider dipping the exhaust ports. I know they are dirty as hell. I have yet to FULLY detail my car.

The exhaust note is great. The mechanic who installed it was totally surprised by how mellow it was and really liked it. At WOT it sounds so beautiful! 😉

Anyone have a detailed breakdown of these exhaust setups?

Will all shops have that Straight Pipe or is that something that has to be ordered?


I really want to do the borla exhaust for the better sound. Does the oval or round make a big difference?
