myBuick app update issues

No kidding! I recently traded my 2016 GMC Canyon in, and was surprised they wanted to charge $15 per month for the My Buick app. The My GMC app was free from the day i drove the truck off the lot. I ended up telling OnStar no thanks, wasn't spending $15 for that. Kept saying no and got the $15 Connect package PLUS the $24 Safety and Security package, all for $190 per year, all in. I can live with that.
I kept telling those advisors that I will not pay $15/month.
I might think about it at $5/month.
How much does it cost them when Ford can offer it for free?

I have found some of the connected services handy, but would only ever pay by the month since I rarely have a need for any of it. The WiFi hotspot will get used for a month long road trip this summer, but that’s it.

I seem to always get an email about promo prices as well. As a buddy of mine says “only suckas pay retail.”
OK I lied.. the ECM was replaced once.

I normally never buy these packages but decided I really wanted the phone remote app in winter. I wound up getting 1 year of the "remote access" plan for $80 via a little bit of light negotiation. Basically the same method I use with SiriusXM every year, "either lower the price or I'll cancel". They always respond with a reasonable price.
 
I didn't even realize there was an update until recently. Buick advertises their "All New MyBuick App" with a dark theme but mine still looks the same as it always has with the light theme. I am running Android 10 on a OnePlus 6. Is the new dark theme only on iPhone or...?

I just got the update for my iPhone X running iOS 14.4 last Saturday
 
The app redesign is a pain the butt...

Old method - tap the virtual button watch the arrow rotate around it and whether it works or fails it gives you a notification.

New Method - hold the "button" until the the "hold" notification goes away.
I am having same issue even standing right next to vehicle 😬
 
I am having the exact same issue. I’ve gotten it to work one time. This is frustrating.
 
Now that the Android app has also been updated, I see what everyone is talking about... it looks better, but the user experience is terrible. The requirement to "Keep Holding" the buttons makes it nearly useless. I find myself just reaching for the fob now.

I’ve had an open case with their tech support for several weeks... there’s no resolve. Press the Blue Button and ask for tech support to open a case. Hopefully they’ll realize this is a widespread issue and escalate a fix.
 
Anyone experiencing remote start issues with the updated app? I’m having to press and hold multiple times before it finally sends the command.
I had the same issue. I had to reconnect the app to my OnStar by turning the car on and reopening the app. After that, the commands were sent. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately it didn’t... I’ve tried so many variations. Same issue persists.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you need to call OnStar to get them to reconnect it manually.
 
And it is a good feature to have on the phone where we can remote start while inside a building instead of just within the remote's signal distance.
However, does it worth $15/month? To me, absolutely not. $5/month, maybe.
Especially when Ford offers it for FREE, FFS!
Pretty sure Ford is not running a charity and figured out a way to monetize the data.
Why can't GM do the same?
My Buick app will not download I had to go to GMC app
 
LOL, not sure if G-381736 knows what they own other than it's some type of GM product.
 
I have noticed a really annoying issue with the app now.
It claims I have a device attached that prevents the vehicle's diagnostic test from completing.
I guess it does not like I have nothing but air connected to the port or the fact that she is a garage queen...

Same here. If I actually had a "ASS disable module" or a Trifecta Tune installed it would make sense but mine is a stocker and daily driven.
