New ultra owner

Yelp, seems like the high beams are stuck on and I cant turn them off
Nor can I turn off the lights (by pressing thd light button all the way down)

Hopefully I’m just a knucklead and don’t know how they work
Pulling fwd on the stalk does nothing, not even a click

The headlight button on LeSabres tends to get stuck. I would imagine that it's the same on Park Ave. Get a small butter knife from the kitchen and work it around the edges.
Once you get it freed up then leave it alone as the headlights on these cars turn on automatically at night so there is no need to manually turn them on.

It pops all the way out
In fact, I drove it this am , brights still on and when I turned the car off, I got the chiming that the lights are still on
So I’m wondering if the auto on/off function isn’t working

Make sure your wipers are all the way off. If they are even on the highest delay, the headlights will stay on. Its happened to me.

Thanks, confirmed all the way off
Used them this am to clear condensation off window but they haven’t been used since

Im gonna take a guess that the switch may need to be replaced then.
The brights switch or the lights switch

Wonder if the auto day/night function isn’t working

Even if I have the lights on (knob pulled all the way out) it should turn off automatically during the day?

If so, I will try the light on/off switch first as the multi use switch (brights, cruise, etc) looks like a bear to replace (removal of steering wheel)

If you are manually overriding the auto headlights and keeping the switch on then the lights will stay on.

Which is auto?
All the way down or one up?
Thanks

Driving it now
If I pull forward on the wiper stalk, brights will turn on , let go they turn off
If I pull the light knob all the way up, the brights are on, and I can’t turn them off

Im not sure how it is on the park avenue. On my lesabre it has buttons.
Looks like pressed all the way down, is the auto function
it’s weird, if I pull the stock forward, it’s functional in regards to turning the brights on and off
If I pull the light switch all the way out, the brights are stuck on
You would think the switch either works or it doesn’t, I need to read the owners manual

Are you sure its the brights on and not the day time running lights?

Do you have a picture of the headlight switch? It may be a different design than what is being discussed.

If it's like the ones from way back in the 60's and 70's, push it all the way in, then push some more (carefully, but with enough pressure). It might click into position.

The old ones like that let you remove the knob with the metal shaft attached by pulling it all the way out, then pressing a small button on the underside of the switch to release it. Reinstalling was a simple action. Insert it into the opening, then press a little more until it clicked into the fully-installed position.

The one in my 2005 has 2 buttons that you press to operate the lights: Parking (on the bottom) and Headlights (on the top), along with 2 sliders to control other stuff. When you press Headlights, it turns on the parking lamps by internally "pressing" the Parking button for you. Pressing only the Parking button turns on the parking lamps. When the lights are turned on at night by the light sensor, pressing the Parking button turns the headlights off, unless the Headlight switch itself is also pressed in. It's a convoluted way of controlling something so simple. I hate mine!
