So i noticed this about 3 or 4 days after i took deliever on my car and just wondering if anyone else has experience a rattle in their from doors? its only on certain songs and a certain pitch that i can hear it so im not really sure what it is. i am going to call my dealer today because it is getting very annoying but just thought i would ask if anyone else has had this problem.

thanks

Do you have anything in the door pockets?

nope i dont. it is something for sure in the panels.

Ron,

I would recommend mentioning this to your dealer at your next visit. They can make a note of the concern at the very least. Please keep me posted and let me know if you need more assistance. Thank you.

i contacted my dealer and have an appointment set up for thursday morning. Im taking the specific music with me so that i can duplicate the problem for them. Thanks i will be sure to keep you updated!

just heard from my dealer that a tech looked at my car and they determined that this is actually operating correctly and that there is no problem with the car........ There is no way that this is not a problem, i should be able to listen to any music at a mid to high level and not hear rattling in my door. it is not a "Normal" noise coming from my speakers. I will be talking to the service people when i go in to pick up my car but so far not very pleased that this is determined to "not be an issue"

Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Yeah I've also had some reverb from the speakers on certain songs... Very disappointing, since this is a premium car with a premium sound system. Bottom line, I don't think Buick (or Opel?) really put much effort into the sound system. I would have expected no distortion through the volume range; my last car had a Bose system, you could crank it as loud as you like, no distortion. I might have to make some aftermarket improvements.

I seem to hear the reverb/noise/vibration coming mainly from the rear, though also from the front door woofers.

Let me take this opportunity to also complain (again!) about the surround sound setting that always reverts back to stereo!

yes i feel that an aftermarket stereo is going to be required....... im not happy about this like you said. premium sound system that i even get this noise listening to talk radio..... yes it is quieter than when listening to music..... this should not happen with a "premium sound system"

How would an aftermarket system alleviate the door resonating on certain pitches? An aftermarket speaker would create the same pitch which would then in turn create the same resonance. Sounds like you may need some dynomat to keep the door panel inert. If what you are hearing is actually distortion then the amp is clipping. A more powerful aftermarket amp would solve that problem.

I agree, if the door is resonating the only good fix is to pull the door panels off, add sound deading to the back of the trim panel, and add it to the back of the sheet metal on the door.

Reverb or resonance is a common problem on door speakers, even my friends AMG with a HK sound system does the same thing with certain songs and pitches. It's the natural resonance frequency of the materials and when they match with the music, vibration is bad and it might resonate terribly. Natural resonance frequencies are usually very low in the tone scales, if your getting resonance it's a good and a bad thing... At least you know the frequency range of the speakers (assuming they are not bottoming out) is going as low as you media is asking it to.

Although it could also be speakers bottoming out or the amp clipping.

A dealer tech would be the last person who's opinion I'd listen to on sound quality issues 😀 (unless he also happens to be an enthusiast).

I'm content with the sound system in mine, not perfect but I didn't expect one either, I have noticed I need to turn bass down in the HU considerably to avoid 'boomy-ness'.
I guess its a case of expectations. I haven't noticed any bad resonance on mine, and I have usually had a car or two with "OK" built up ($2000-3000) sound systems in them. The regal's stock stuff can't touch a good aftermarket setup, but as far as resonance and odd sounds go, I haven't noticed any, and while I'm no pro, I do like my music a bit louder and clearer than most.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a foreign object bouncing around inside the door... Someone forgot their safety glasses or something in there 😀

I have no issues with my hk system. No matter how loud I turn it up, I don't get any distortion. Not sure what car with Bose you had NHFlyer, but it's a thousand times better than the puny Bose system I had in my Infiniti.

alright so i should clarify. listening to it more and more it sounds like a crackle or even static for lack of a better word.

It has gotten worse since my visit to the dealership yesterday. so i will be going back tomorrow.

they told me that there was nothing wrong and the speaker was operating correctly. So my plan is this, if this is operating correctly then any other regal gs or turbo on there lot with the same sound system playing the same song with the same base level should produce the same sound.... right? if not then there is something wrong with my car. also if it is operating correctly then when the door panel is removed and the problem continues then there is something wrong with the speaker and is not a vibration caused by the door panel and the speaker vibrating.

Should be an interesting morning when i go tomorrow. but i know that it has gotten worse since yesterday and it is not acceptable.

ill update tomorrow when i get done

if i have the stereo turned up and the song has a fair amount of bass...i'll get door panel vibrations that are not only felt but heard. maybe it's the speaker grill...don't know for sure?

No highs, no lows, it must be Bose. I have no rattles and very clean base, and very loud after 25.

I posted a thread a few months back regarding this same buzzing/hissing/humm coming from the speakers. I took it to the dealer, and they failed to reproduce the sound. So, I waited until it started again (as in my case it is intermittent). I now have it recorded on my phone, and yes, you can definitely hear it even through the phones speaker. The next time I have the car in for an oil change, I will be bringing it back in with this irrefutable evidence. If they again continue to tell me nothing is wrong, I don't know what to do? Demand new speakers and amplifier?

thats the thing, i sat in the car with the service rep in the morning when i dropped it off. i made a playlist of the songs that showed it the most the night before and he most certainly heard what i was talking about and agreed that the sound should not be there. however when i went back the tech said everything was functioning correctly and there was no problem. since then it has gotten worse and is not happening with basically every song, just the level of the noise is changing.

i should be getting a call today from the dealer.

soooo little update.....

I have not heard from my dealer yet...... im very disappointed and getting a little angry that i have gone in twice for this issue, first by appointment and then second just stopping by and having a service rep tell me that he would have his manager give me a call on monday..... now it is going to be thursday and still nothing. i will be calling tomorrow and express my displeasure with them.......

i also seem to have figured out what is causing the noise.... or at least part of the problem. The piece of plastic that has the window control on it is rattling at certain pitches in songs. I'm not sure if this is the entire problem i just noticed it tonight when i was heading home and will be looking into it more tomorrow when i have some free time.

If you have isolated where the rattle is coming from then you can probably use dynomat the fix the problem. The hard part will be figuring out how to pop out that plastic part to put dynomat on the back. Maybe you could suggest to the dealer that they do this. If that plastic piece is the only thing causing the rattle then this should be an easy fix.
