Saw my first TourX in the wild today.

I saw my old car today in Sauk City, WI. Coming straight to me I knew it was my old TourX because of the yellow fogs. If I could have turned around to give chase I would have.

I will be in the Atlanta/Decatur area in 2 weeks, spending a month or so there for my wife’s various doctor appointments. So look for a Sport Red TourX with Illinois plates….

The only TourX I see regularly is mine and of course 90% of the time it's from the inside, so at first glance seeing another TourX is an initially foreign experience. 'huh that's a neat looking car, what is that... Oh.'

The other day I thought I spotted another TourX and was disappointed that it was a Mercedes wagon. Close, but no banana.

Meanwhile, an ex-coworker who still keeps in touch via Slack sent me this - spotted at a University of Illinois parking lot in Champaign, IL

I definitely get that, and seeing one from the outside hasn't gotten old for me after having the TourX for about 2 1/2 yrs.

Just purchased an used 2018 Smoked Pearl TourX Essense (36K) used, about a month ago. Loving it! Have not seen any besides mine in Phoenix. Saw one about two months ago in Prescott, Arizona and just got hooked. Trying to get a feel of how rare the car is, I did a quick search on autotrader.com today. Nationally there are 96 Regal TourX listed for sale, from model year 2018. Same search, if I switched to Ferrari, there are 334 copies (used) being sold. Not very scitific, but you get the picture

And I think the ones for sale are often returns after a 3 year lease. So there are lots of 2018s right now. next year you will see a stead stream of 2019s. Even though o love my TourX, I’m looking for a blue one with ACC and keep lane assist as those are the features I couldn’t find in the cars in,y area for sale at the time I bought my TourX. I don’t want a sunroof, but I suspect folks who bought them fully loaded,would also have the sunroof.

Our 2019 loaded Dark Moon Metallic comes off lease this coming March - but I really think I'm gonna buy it out - not a great $ way to go, but this car is wonderful, and there seem to be more and more reasons, to me, to buy it out. Usually leasing is the most expensive way to operate a vehicle (though there are exceptions). I’ve never leased a vehicle before opting to buy and hold forever while running them into the ground. That said, if I end up getting an electric vehicle next, I’m very tempted to lease it so I’m not stuck with it If battery degredation becomes a problem. Just looks a resale prices of early Nissan Leafs

Plus your lease buyout was probably already negotiated in your contract, so it might very well be much better than trying to buy a used TourX today. I suspect I probably paid more for my used TourX than the original owner purchased new.

Finally, if you didn’t buy out the lease, what vehicles are out there that you would want as a replacement? After owning the TourX, I can’t imagine opting for an SUV. If my TourX got totaled tomorrow, I’d be shopping for either another TourX or another wagon (and the other choices are much more expensive - Volvo, Merc, Audi, Porsche, BMW - I couldn’t be caught dead in a VW as punishment for Dieselgate, and Audi and Porsche are related, so by the transitive property…. Though the Taycan wagon looks awesome, but is more than I’m willing to spend at this time…
