I got the spare tire today - it looks brand new. I know, it was never used. I took out the subwoofer and the container that would have held the foam compressor if it had one (2nd pic), and the tire fits perfectly, with the subwoofer on top of it. Usually if something goes right, it means I missed something. I took the jack from my 1998 Chevy S10, and I think it might work.
I guess I could pretend that the tire fits, and hope I never have to use it, but I will test it out tomorrow.

You've got the goo for the pump/compressor, I wonder where your pump is? Also missing is the screw in tow hook, I presume you guys got that. It fits in the slot below to goo bottle.

I don't know how much it matters, it at all but the arrow on the sub woofer is supposed to point to the front of the car.

We don’t get the tow hook in North America. There’s no threaded hole under the plastic cover in the bumper.

I'll be truthful - I did not know what the subwoofer was until I read about it on this forum. I will adjust it.

There should be a pump. Can you go back to the seller and ask? I would if it were me. That pump is as part of the car as a spare wheel is for a car that usually has a spare wheel.

I called the dealership and spoke with the Service Manager. He also said that there should be a pump. But, I've had the car for 2 yrs now, so, I don't see a pump in my car's future. My fault. The other day when my wife got a flat, that can of goo would have been useless. I like having the spare.

I understand, makes sense.

Both times I've had a puncture with this car they have been slow leaks, with a nail through the tyre. Neither times did I need to add air to get home, but having the pump I could easily add some air to save a having to change the wheel out on the road. For this reason I will still carry the pump.

About a month after I bought the car, one of the tires went unbalanced, causing the car to shake badly. It had just snowed, and the dealer suggested taking it to a car wash to clean the crud from the wheel. Didn't work. What had happened was that the foam insulation inside the Continental had peeled from the tire. Then it happened on a second tire. The dealer replaced all four tires and everything has been fine. Then I got the flat and bought a new tire from a local garage that works fine, but doesn't have the noise dampening foam. At this point, I'll get used to the louder tire.

That ring pictured us much thicker than the one i used. Our TourX is out of town till the end of the month, but when it gets home i'll try to get the part # off it for reference...

The ring i have is GM part #90584456, apparently used in a few Saturn L series sedans & wagons 2000-2005.

Be honest with me. Is it too agricultural?
It is a full diameter (but narrower) alloy wheel and tire purchased from Modern Spare. I didn't like riding around with the projectile in the cargo area so I made the external mount. The tire swings down to open the tailgate, ...admittedly a hassle. I also now have nice view of my spare tire with the back up camera, and if the car wasn't long enough before, it sure is now. I roll to the east coast several times a year, and at my age I like the idea of a spare tire rather than a sub-woofer.

For me, I’d buy roof rails and a metal cargo rack, then bungee the tire up there along with a big husky tool box for all the other stuff one might need. That should be far more utilitarian and cheaper than a Thule cargo carrier.

Yeah but none of those solutions are a full size (diameter) spare. Just a compact spare.

If I were to do what you've done @Spudboy52, I'd have just gone with a legit full size spare with a fifth OEM alloy wheel and tire. Since space isn't a constraint outside of the vehicle, it would be nice to have. I like what you've done though. The white disc looks cool but I think painting the frame black would hide it better!

PS; nice White in the background! We run the same generation tractors, but Ford. I've always loved those body styles.
