Sunshade fell apart

When closing it it stops short.
**EDIT** To calibrate, try pressing and holding the shade button only (shut direction) first. Then try both as stated below if it didn't work.
----
That happened to mine too. The shade has to re-learn it's start and stop positions.

I'm sorry, but I can't remember exactly what the procedure was, but I believe he opened the shade to end of the tilt glass. Then he pressed and held both sunroof and shade buttons (towards close) at the same time, for about 20 to 30 seconds. I think once the shade moves and stops that's when you let go.

Also, they didn’t enable the sunroof and left this socket and bit on my windshield.

Car picked up. Three visits, 4 sunshades, and the dealer passes this off to me. When opening it, it tries to climb into the head liner. When closing it it stops short.

Now I’ve been very patient and understand the circumstances and various deltas to this. But I’m beginning to get very pissed off. I don’t know where to go from here.
Lemon, buyback by GM

A lemon law buyback refers to the process in which a vehicle manufacturer is either forced to or voluntarily reacquires a vehicle because of a warranty defect that substantially impairs the use, safety, and value of the vehicle.

That’s great and all but it’s not going to replace my car in a market that has insane mark up right now. I got lucky with this car and it’s history, if I get something else I’m potentially buying somebody else’s problem. I’m also the second owner which probably complicated things.

This may help the sunroof issues which also needs calibration.

Sounds like time to find a different dealer. Doesn't sound like a great crew working on this.

Old thread, I know.
2018 TourX has had a sagging sunshade since I bought the car in November, but it worked. Fell apart the other day, luckily covered under extended warranty. About 62,000 miles on the car, Chevy dealership service department was great, Buick/GMC, not so much. Happy it’ll get fixed, really like the car. Curious how long the repair has lasted for others.

Mine has been operational (knock on something 🙂 since I posted this thread. All good and no issues.

Might be obvious at this point but still:
Don't ever touch it! My daughter literally poked mine with her finger and the next time I hit the button it came off it's track and bunched up and caused this giant headache.
I had the same exact experience on Thursday. I opened the rear door to unbuckle my daughter and saw her gently poking up at the shade. I told her please stop and asked her to never touch it again. The next morning, I had forgotten all about the incident but as the shade motored back she asked "Daddy? What was that crunching sound?" One look in the rear view mirror told me all I needed to know. I'm out of warranty so dreading a trip the the dealer to find out how much this simple touch is going to cost.

StoweNow,
I just had mine replaced at a Chevy dealer, was about $1500. The Buick dealer estimate was $3000 just a few weeks prior, not sure why the huge difference in price.
Small consolation, but it only took them a couple of hours to do the work.

After reading about all those with sun shade issues, I have decided to never open mine again.
I think I have opened and closed it 2-3 times and that was in the first few months I had the car.
I really never open sun/moon roofs anyway - just the shade to let in more light on dreary days.
Since the TourX has a sun shade that lets in light, there is really no need to open it for more light.
Now, I just have to hope the moon roof doesn't develop the water leak issues that some others have experienced!

My thoughts have gone to operate machinery at least occasionally under "nice conditions". But, maybe you're right.
I hope nothing (for example things I put on the rack) messes-up the glass.
I guess it's another part of finally having some nicer things, that means there is now more that can go bad.

Hi all! I live in Europe and bought TourX with delivery from the USA. The first thing I did in the summer after the repair was to try to close the curtain. It jammed and began to tear off the fabric.
Mileage 20,000 miles.
At the beginning, I thought that this was a bad service, dust was mopped into the mechanism after repair. But after reading your posts, I changed my mind.
I wanted to order a new curtain with delivery from the USA, but now I began to think. If the new shade can also break, then I see a reasonable solution to remove it and tint the roof.
Here they wrote that it is dangerous. Someone wrote that glass can crack from this. Please tell me why glass can crack from tinting? I didn't understand. Does it crack from black color, from overheating? What is the reason for such a threat?

If one wanted to keep a shade on hand to have just in case what part numbers would be needed? I see the shade part number is 39130325. Are there any other parts used in the repair?

Sale Price:$163.55 is a relatively cheap part, hopefully, the revised this shade.

$1,500 is absurd for a sunroof shade. The shade itself is $250 at full list on GM's site or $164 at GM Parts Direct (above). Were there more parts than just the shade? If so, could you provide a list? BTW - Part #391302525 is the new part that supersedes the original shade 39026681. I'll call this week and see what the local dealer quotes for the job. 🤞 Between the shade and tires, it will be a big week of car-related bills.

I think the Buick dealer told me that it would be about $2400 to replace (2 years ago). It's pretty labor intensive.

Someone said on Facebook that you should avoid driving with the windows open while the shade is closed. They mentioned that at highway speeds the shade gets significant tugging/pulling by the wind. Don't know if that's why my shade failed, but I do ride with the windows open often.

When you mean windows open, you mean those on the door, right? (Or did you mean moonroof open with shade covering the back half?) 🤔

Door windows. However, I retract shade fully in both circumstances.
