The majority of people are not buying cars. They are buying SUVs. GM can't compete with the foreign company's because of costs. I bought a 3 year old Lacrosse Premium AWD with 24000 miles and could have bought a brand new Honda for not much more. I would not but a lot of people would. I know you people like your cars and I do to. GM is making money on SUVs not cars. Cant please everyone. I also own an Enclave Premium AWD. Every bit as nice as the Lacrosse. Not a single trip to a dealer with either Buick. My youngest girl drives a 12 GS. with 50000 miles.

It's the Aztek of Buicks. Looks fantastic from the front, but the minute you see the big squatty loooong side view, that's where you lose 99% of buyers.

Never fear, for the last 2 years Mazda has talked about bringing the Mazda 6 wagon back to the shores of America. I'm quite certain that their marketing genius' will be able to sell over 100,000 units the first year they launch.

I was in Spain last week and said multiple Mazda 6 wagons, really nice looking.

In 2025 or 2026 when I'm ready to replace the TourX I hope Genesis is still building G70s. Trunk was too tiny this go round but once my wife get the aircraft carrier size CUV/SUV she wants I won't have to worry about who's vehicle we're taking for family trips.

I say the problem with corporate America today is that if something doesn't make a trunkful of money, it's not worth doing at all. The companies are not building cars that the people want, they are building the cars the shareholders want.

There should be room in a manufacturer's portfolio for vehicles that do not make large profits as long as those models are able to carry their own cost. Even Corvette is temporarily suffering a loss on base model C8's, to be subsidized by highly-optioned models and later higher-end editions.

This profit-or-die mentality is killing variety and consumer choice.

You are correct and the problem with chasing "demand" is you will always be behind. Its seems the big 3 are worst at this. Gas is cheap and so people are buying SUVs. What happens if we hit another gas crunch or for some unforseen reason customer demand changes? It would take a few years to redevelop for the new deman..and the cycle continues. Remember early 2000s gas guzzling SUVs(remember Hummer and Excusrsions)..then gas crunch..."cash for clunkers" smaller cars. Now back to slightly larger crossovers.

It seems the current management has got short term tunnel wision and fails to see the long range big picture.

Seriously if you're coming on here to b*tch and moan about depreciation and resale value...why are even buying a Buick? GM is notorious for high depreciation...it is what it is. Buy a freaking Toyota or Subie if you're MOST concerned about financial value. Geez.

No it's not, the trucks have some of the least depreciation only next to Toyota.

If you ran a business and was losing money, would you continue too do so so the consumer had choice and variety?

We really liked the A5 Sportback. I have owned 7 Audis during my driving years and have enjoyed them. The A5 was tight in the back seat and at least $10k more than the GS. We still have teenagers around, so the back seat mattered. The GS is closer in size to an A7, but those start at about $70k.

The GS is a great deal and GM had no clue how to market and sell it. It is unfortunate.

If memory serves me correctly...about a year-18 months ago GM was marketing the TourX as a Crossover. It was first listed on buick.com under the SUVs and crossovers tab. Then..I think it moved to either a wagon or car tab(I can't remember) for most of the last year. Now it appears to be back under the SUV and crossovers tab.

I wonder WTH is going on..are they grasping at straws trying to sell the inventory they have before abandonment?

The first couple of days that was listed on Buick was under cars, then got moved to crossover & SUV ever since.
But it has always been listed as wagon in the all vehicles page.

No push button start? Even base model does not have old style ignition switch you put key in.
